چکیده مقاله:

Fungal assist microalgal cultivation is getting substantial considerations due to the highly efficiency of bioflocculation process without demanded of using chemicals and little bit energy input. Therefore, Fungi pelletization-assisted microalgal cultivation were applied for improving algal harvesting process and nutrient recovery as step wise for wastewater treatment. Two strains of marine microalgae (Nannochloropsis salina and Chlorella salina) and three species of marine fungi (Penicillium chrysogenum, Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus fumigatus) were implied to investigate the effect of fungi-algae pelletization process on wastewater recovery. After 48 hour of cultivation, the highest flocculation efficiency (98.9%) was recorded by A. fumigatus assist C. salina, while the lowest percentage (85.9%) recorded by A. niger assist N. Salina. The highest nutrient removal percentage was for nitrite by A. niger assist C. salina /tap water (98.4%) followed by phosphate A. fumigates assist N. salina/sea and tap water (90.9%), then ammonia by A. fumigates assist N. salina/seawater (89.5%). The bioflocculation process is a promising for algal harvesting techniques and wastewater nutrient recovery.

Co-Cultivation of Fungal and Microalgal Cells as an Efficient System for Harvesting Microalgal Cells, Lipid Production and Wastewater Treatment

The challenges which the large scale microalgal industry is facing are associated with the high cost of key operations such as harvesting, nutrient supply and oil extraction. The high-energy input for harvesting makes current commercial microalgal biodiesel production economically unfeasible and can account for up to 50% of the total cost of biofuel production. Co-cultivation of fungal and micr...

Dissolved inorganic carbon enhanced growth, nutrient uptake, and lipid accumulation in wastewater grown microalgal biofilms.

Microalgal biofilms grown to evaluate potential nutrient removal options for wastewaters and feedstock for biofuels production were studied to determine the influence of bicarbonate amendment on their growth, nutrient uptake capacity, and lipid accumulation after nitrogen starvation. No significant differences in growth rates, nutrient removal, or lipid accumulation were observed in the algal b...

Applications of microalgal biofilms for wastewater treatment and bioenergy production

BACKGROUND Microalgae have shown clear advantages for the production of biofuels compared with energy crops. Apart from their high growth rates and substantial lipid/triacylglycerol yields, microalgae can grow in wastewaters (animal, municipal and mining wastewaters) efficiently removing their primary nutrients (C, N, and P), heavy metals and micropollutants, and they do not compete with crops ...

Scenario Analysis of Nutrient Removal from Municipal Wastewater by Microalgal Biofilms

Microalgae can be used for the treatment of municipal wastewater. The application of microalgal biofilms in wastewater treatment systems seems attractive, being able to remove nitrogen, phosphorus and COD from wastewater at a short hydraulic retention time. This study therefore investigates the area requirement, achieved effluent concentrations and biomass production of a hypothetical large-sca...

Harvesting Environmental Microalgal Blooms for Remediation and Resource Recovery: A Laboratory Scale Investigation with Economic and Microbial Community Impact Assessment

A laboratory based microflotation rig termed efficient FLOtation of Algae Technology (eFLOAT) was used to optimise parameters for harvesting microalgal biomass from eutrophic water systems. This was performed for the dual objectives of remediation (nutrient removal) and resource recovery. Preliminary experiments demonstrated that chitosan was more efficient than alum for flocculation of biomass...

Feasibility of cattle urine as nutrient medium for the microalgal biomass production

Thenutrient medium used for the cultivation of microalgae adds more cost to its value-added product as well as the commercial scale application. Therefore in this study, focused feasibility of cattle urine as a cheap source of nutrients for microalgal growth, because, it contains various minerals and economical which may support the growth of microalgae and reduce the medium cost. To check this...
