چکیده مقاله:
Background: The breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in Iran. Hence determination of the optimal treatment and the contributing factors are important. The main aim in current study was to determine the association between tumor infiltration of lymphocytes (TIL) and complete pathological response in breast cancer patients after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Methods and materials: In this comparative retrospective study, 73 consecutive patients with breast cancer who went under neoadjuvant chemotherapy and core needle biopsy in Shohada Tajrish hospital , Tehran, Iran since 2011 till 2019 were enrolled and the association between TIL and complete pathological response in patients was determined. Results: The results in this study demonstrated that 13.3% and 35.7% of those with TIL less than 10 and more than 10 had complete pathological response that showed statistically significant difference (P=0.025). Conclusion: Tumor Infiltration of lymphocytes and complete pathological response in breast cancer patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy are interrelated and TIL may be used to predict the response.

Association between Pathological Complete Response and Outcome Following Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Locally Advanced Breast Cancer Patients
PURPOSE We aimed to determine the rate of pathological complete response (pCR), clinicopathological factors associated with pCR, and clinical outcomes following neoadjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced breast cancer. METHODS Medical records of patients who had undergone neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer between January 2007 and September 2011 were retrospectively reviewed, and th...
متن کاملPredictive ability of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography for pathological complete response and prognosis after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer patients
Objective The mortality of patients with locally advanced triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is high, and pathological complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is associated with improved prognosis. This retrospective study was designed and powered to investigate the ability of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) to predict pat...
متن کاملTumor-Associated Lymphocytes Predict Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Breast Cancer Patients
PURPOSE Tumor-associated lymphocyte numbers in breast cancer have been suggested as a new independent predictor of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients. We therefore evaluated the relationship between pathologic complete response (pCR) and tumor-associated lymphocytes in tumors of such patients. METHODS Between 2000 and 2009, we retrospectively evaluated 175 patients...
متن کاملClinical predictors of pathological complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer
The response of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) to chemotherapy is heterogeneous; particular subtype classifications based on mRNA gene expression analysis have been demonstrated to be associated with a pathological complete response (pCR). The aim of the present study was to investigate additional clinical and pathological characteristics associated with pCR status. The pathological and c...
متن کاملEarly-onset brain metastases in a breast cancer patient after pathological complete response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
Breast cancer patients who achieve a pathological complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) usually have a favourable prognosis. We report on a patient with early metastases to the brain after achieving pCR. The primary tumour was 7.0 cm in diameter with axillary lymph node metastases, hormone receptor-negative, human epidermal growth factor receptor-2-positive (3+), and hist...
متن کاملHigh Proliferation Predicts Pathological Complete Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Early Breast Cancer
BACKGROUND In the neoadjuvant setting, changes in the proliferation marker Ki67 are associated with primary endocrine treatment efficacy, but its value as a predictor of response to chemotherapy is still controversial. PATIENTS AND METHODS We analyzed 262 patients with centralized basal Ki67 immunohistochemical evaluation derived from 4 GEICAM (Spanish Breast Cancer Group) clinical trials of ...
