Association of MiR-146a Expression and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Meta-Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Although deregulation of miR-146a has been reported in type 2 diabetes repeatedly, the direction of deregulation events (up or down) remained to be inconsistent in literatures. Therefore, in this study, we performed a meta-analysis on the possible association between miR-146a expression levels and type 2 diabetes. A systematic literature searching of PubMed, ISI Web of Science and Google Scholar was performed up to the end of September 2016. Finally, a total of 12 studies including 344 diabetic patients and 316 controls were selected for meta-analysis. All statistical analysis was performed using the meta for package with R software. Moreover, publication bias was assessed by Egger’s and sensitivity analysis was applied on the meta-analysis. The results are presented as log10 odds ratios (logORs), 95% confidence intervals (CI) with relevant P values. The results revealed that miR-146a was downregulated in type 2 diabetes cases compared with normal subjects (P=0.01, logOR:-4.76, 95% CI:-8.41, -1.11). Furthermore, sub-group analysis showed that the association between miR-146a expression levels and type 2 diabetes in whole blood (P<0.001) and PBMCs (P<0.001) samples were significant. However, this association was not significant in the serum (P=0.67) and plasma (P=0.90) samples. Our finding suggests that miR-146a downregulation could be associated with type 2 diabetes susceptibility. Further investigations with larger sample size are required to evaluate this association in the type 2 diabetes pathogenesis.

Background and Aim: Several investigations have evaluated the association of miR-146a rs2910164 and miR-27a rs895819 single-nucleotide polymorphisms with susceptibility to type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, the findings are conflicting and inconclusive. Therefore, this meta-analysis performed to investigate the association between these polymorphisms and T2D risk. متن کاملASSOCIATION ANALYSIS BETWEEN RS10830962 VARIANT OF MTNR1B GENE AND TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS RISK
Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is the most common type of diabetes that was classically characterized by pancreatic β-cell dysfunction. Changes in circadian patterns is one of the reasons which can increase the occurrence of diabetes. Melatonin is one of the biological molecules which plays an important role in regulating the circadian clock and also an inhibitory effect on insulin...
متن کاملAssociation between IGF2BP2 Polymorphisms and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Case–Control Study and Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) found that IGF2BP2 rs4402960 and rs1470579 polymorphisms were associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) risk. Many studies have replicated this association, but yielded inconsistent results. MATERIALS AND METHODS A case-control study consisting of 461 T2DM patients and 434 health controls was conducted to detect the genetic susceptibilit...
متن کاملSelf-monitoring in Type 2 diabetes mellitus: a meta-analysis.
AIMS Self-monitoring of blood or urine glucose is widely used by subjects with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the technique at improving blood glucose control through a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS Randomized controlled trials were identified that compared the effects of blood or urine glucose monitoring with no self-monitoring, or blood gl...
متن کاملAssociation between Telomere Length and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND Several epidemiological studies have examined the association between shortened telomere length and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), while the results remained conflicting. We conducted a meta-analysis to derive a more precise estimation of the relationship between them. METHODS We systematically reviewed the databases of PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science for all studies on the as...

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to determine whether the SUMO4 M55V polymorphism is associated with susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). METHODS A meta-analysis was performed to detect the potential association of the SUMO4 M55V polymorphism and susceptibility to T2DM under dominant, recessive, co-dominant (homogeneous and heterogeneous), and additive models. RESULTS A tota...
