Anesthesia and Resuscitation in Neonatal Diaphragmatic Hernia

چکیده مقاله:

Diaphragmatic Rupture and Hernia after Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
A 55-year-old man underwent surgical replacement of a mitral valve 10 years earlier. In a retrospective evaluation of a chest radiograph, the diaphragm was intact at the time of initial surgery. He was then admitted to our emergency room with a complaint of vertigo. During evaluation, he developed decreased consciousness. Ventricular fibrillation was diagnosed, and external massage and full car...

OBJECTIVE To determine whether the respiratory response to resuscitation in infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) as measured by a respiratory function monitor differed between those who did and did not survive. DESIGN Observational study. SETTING Tertiary perinatal centre. PATIENTS Thirty-eight infants born at 34 weeks of gestation or greater and diagnosed antenatally with a...
متن کاملStrangulated diaphragmatic hernia in the neonatal period.
Strangulation of a diaphragmatic hernia was first described by Pare in 1575. It is a rare complication of this type of hernia; Hoffman, Levy, Sole, and Lewitan (1954) could only find 76 cases in the literature and added a case of their own. Most of the earlier instances of strangulation occurred in herniae of traumatic origin, but in recent years there has been a higher proportion in congenital...
متن کاملCongenital diaphragmatic hernia and neonatal lung lesions.
Increasingly, the diagnoses of chest lesions in infants are made not by symptoms of respiratory distress but by prenatal imaging. Because the availability and quality of prenatal imaging have increased, so has the frequency of prenatal diagnoses that include symptomatic and asymptomatic lesions. Early prenatal diagnosis of life-threatening lesions, such as congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) ...
متن کاملManagement of neonatal posterolateral diaphragmatic hernia.
From March 1978 to April 1982 13 neonates with a left posterolateral diaphragmatic hernia were seen in respiratory distress within 12 hours of birth. Each had severe acidosis and hypoxia. They were immediately intubated and ventilated. Arterial and central venous lines were inserted, the acidosis was partially corrected, and a dopamine infusion of 4-8 micrograms/kg/min was begun immediately. Co...
متن کاملAnesthesia for Traumatic Diaphragmatic Hernia Associated with Corneal Laceration
BACKGROUND Diaphragmatic rupture can be seen in up to 5% of car accidents, and 80%-100% of diaphragmatic hernias are associated with other vital organ injuries. Brain, pelvis, long bones, liver, spleen, and aorta are some other organs that can be severely damaged and need different anesthetic managements. CASE REPORT A 37-year-old male victim of a head-on collision who was suffering diaphragmat...
