An Application of Non-response Bias Reduction Using Propensity Score Methods

چکیده مقاله:
Normal distribution is widely used in many applications. The problem of testing whether observations come from a normal distribution has been studied extensively by many researchers. Our main goal in this article is to present a simple test procedure for testing multivariate normality.

Propensity score modelling in observational studies using dimension reduction methods.
Conditional independence assumptions are very important in causal inference modelling as well as in dimension reduction methodologies. These are two very strikingly different statistical literatures, and we study links between the two in this article. The concept of covariate sufficiency plays an important role, and we provide theoretical justification when dimension reduction and partial least...
متن کاملReducing Bias in Cancer Research: Application of Propensity Score Matching
In cancer observational studies, differences between groups on confounding variables may have a significant effect on results when examining health outcomes. This study demonstrates the utility of propensity score matching to balance a non-cancer and cancer cohort of older adults on multiple relevant covariates. This approach matches cases to controls on a single indicator, the propensity score...
متن کاملPropensity score methods for bias reduction in the comparison of a treatment to a non-randomized control group.
In observational studies, investigators have no control over the treatment assignment. The treated and non-treated (that is, control) groups may have large differences on their observed covariates, and these differences can lead to biased estimates of treatment effects. Even traditional covariance analysis adjustments may be inadequate to eliminate this bias. The propensity score, defined as th...
متن کاملOverview of Propensity Score Methods
The propensity score methods are widely used to adjust confounding effects in observational studies when comparing treatment effects. The propensity score is defined as the probability of treatment assignment conditioning on some observed baseline characteristics and it provides a balanced score for the treatment conditions as conditioning on the propensity score, the treatment groups are compa...
متن کاملUsing Administrative Databases for Research: Propensity Score Methods to Adjust for Bias
Health care and other programs collect large amounts of information in order to administer the program. A health insurance plan, for example, probably records every physician service, hospital and emergency department visit, and prescription medication—information that is collected in order to make payments to the various providers (hospitals, physicians, pharmacists). Although the data are col...
