چکیده مقاله:
This paper provides evidence for the presence of Gazella gazella on Fmur Island of Iran in the Persian Gulf. The species has not hitherto been reported from Iran. Based on univariate and multivariate analysis of a number of morphological features of the skull including horn length, premaxillae type, shape of nasal bones and skull breadth it is concluded that the Iranian population represents a new subspecies; skulls of females are more distinctive than males for intirspecific comparisons. Descriptive statistics for measured variables are given and the new subspecies is described and named

Phylogenetic analysis of Persian Gazella, Gazella subgutturosa (Artiodactyla: Bovidae) based on cytochrome b in central Iran
Persian gazelle, Gazella subgutturosa, exists throughout arid and semiarid regions of Iran and has a key role in these frail ecosystems. Habitat degradation and population decline has placed it on the list of vulnerable species in 2008. The phylogenetic relationships of three Persian gazelle populations in the central part of Iran (i.e. Ghamishlou National Park and Wildlife Refuge, Mouteh Wildl...

Procapra picticaudata Hodgson, 1846, is commonly called the Tibetan gazelle, goa (5 Tibetan), or zang yuan ling (5 Chinese) and is monotypic. It is a high-elevation specialist endemic to the Tibetan Plateau where it prefers alpine meadow and alpine steppe but uses other lower-elevation plains and valleys. It is partial to good grasslands with high diversity of forbs. There have been no systemat...

Procapra przewalskii (Büchner, 1891), commonly called Przewalski’s gazelle, is polytypic with 1 of the 2 subspecies (P. p. diversicornis) likely extinct. The species now occurs only in the Qinghai Lake region in northeastern Qinghai Province, western China, and predominately inhabits semiarid grassland steppe, stable sand dunes, and the desert–shrub ecotone between them. Numbers and distributio...

T. quadricornis is a sexually dimorphic boselaphid of small stature; only males have horns, with 2 of the 3 recognized subspecies having 2 anterior and 2 posterior smooth, sharp horns, un...
متن کاملAging mountain gazelle (Gazella gazella): refining methods of tooth eruption and wear and bone fusion
This paper refines current methods for aging mountain gazelle (Gazella gazella), one of the most common species hunted by prehistoric humans in the southern Levant. Most importantly, we present a new tooth wear scheme for aging the lower deciduous fourth premolar (dP4), the lower permanentmolars (M1,M2,M3) and the lower fourth premolar (P4) of the gazelle. Broaderwear stages for completemandibl...
