Worldwide Development of Wind Energy and CO2 Emission Reduction
Authors
Abstract:
One of the most considerable issues in the global society is reducing CO2 emissions of industrial activities and its consequences. Therefore, exploitation of clean energy sources is one of the requirements of the international community. In this regard, the researchers investigated the impact of renewable energy utilization to achieve the low carbon economy and concluded that it can significantly reduce the CO2 emissions of transportation and industry sectors. Wind power offers a sustainable option in the pursuit of renewable energies. In this article, the development of wind energy in the world and leading countries is investigated. It is found that by the end of 2017, the utilization of wind resources has prevented at least 600 and up to 1100 million tones CO2 emissions. Also, if the current rate of wind energy development continues, up to 2100 million tones CO2 will be avoided by the year 2030. Eventually economic analyses illustrated that utilization of wind energy in 2030 can reduce up to 210 billion dollar in global energy costs and more than 300 billion cubic meters natural gas equivalent of fossil fuels resources.

Economic growth, Financial development and CO2 Emission: PSTR Approach
The aim of this paper is to assess the sign and magnitude of the nonlinear effects of main socio-economic variables as well as the financial development index(measured by private credit to GDP ratio) on the environmental pollution. Specifically, the interaction of the socio-economic variables with financial development as a threshold variable in affecting CO2 emission is studied. In this respec...
full textReduction of CO2 Emission and Production Costs by Using Pozzolans in Lamerd Cement Factory
Two major concerns for cement factories are environmental aspects and production costs. The number of cement factories is increasing in Iran which from an environmental point of view is not favorable. Different pozzolans such as brick, potted clay, volcanic rocks, sedimentary rocks and rice bran were used in the cement produced by Lamerd factory in the south of Iran. Among these additives, ...

Spatial analysis of the factors influencing households’ direct energy consumption and CO2 emission in Ardabil Problem Statement Carbon management and its production resources are important not only for the preservation of non-renewable resources but also for the prevention of global warming and its adverse consequences. Direct consumption of fuel and energy by households plays a major role ...
full textAssessing Economic, Social, and Environmental Impacts of Wind Energy in Iran with Focus on Development of Wind Power Plants
As a key economic element, energy plays an important role in the development of societies. Economic growth and its urgent need for energy highlight the need for optimal energy use. Wind energy is an energy source that has become an increasingly common source of electricity. In this study, socio-economic impacts of the cost of electricity generated by wind power plants were assessed with Iran as...
full textPotential CO2 emission reduction by development of non-grain-based bioethanol in China.
Assessment of the potential CO(2) emission reduction by development of non-grain-based ethanol in China is valuable for both setting up countermeasures against climate change and formulating bioethanol policies. Based on the land occupation property, feedstock classification and selection are conducted, identifying sweet sorghum, cassava, and sweet potato as plantation feedstocks cultivated fro...
full textDevelopment of a mathematical model to design an offshore wind and wave hybrid energy system
Fossil Fuels are always considered as environmental pollutants. On the other hand, the political and economic situations highly affect the price of these fuels. Offshore wind and wave, as renewable energy sources, represent the better alternatives for electricity generation. Therefore, it is necessary that wind speeds effectively be estimated due to the absence of field measurements of the wind...
