Wiedmann rautenstrauch progeroid syndrome:case report
Authors
Abstract:
premature aging of Wiedmann rautenstrauch type is a rare syndrome,of which only nine cases has been reported up to 1994.this syndrome is characterized by cardiac, mental and physical problems such as skull and vertebral malformation which can be diagnosed from birth.in this article a 24 year old woman is reportef who was reffered to interal medicine clinic with the chief complaint of palpitation and chest pain.in physical examination she was found to have a protruded frontal and parietal areas of the skull, depressed anterior fontanel, beaked nose.protruded eyes and chin, dry and atrophic skin, long and sparse scalp hair, ataxic gait, and severe scoliosis of cervical and thoracic spinal vertebra, which suggest Wiedmann rautenstrauch progeroid syndrome.problems like enlarged goiter, chronic anemia, severe scoliosis and exertional ischemic chest pain were her major causes of referral to the physician.

Wiedemann-Rautenstrauch (WR) syndrome is known as a neonatal progeroid syndrome, with only few published case reports. We describe three additional patients, two of them sibs, showing the clinical features of WR syndrome. Skeletal abnormalities are reported and assays of hormones and lipids are presented in one patient. Disturbance in bone maturation and lipid and hormone metabolism appear to b...

Two Iranian cases with very rare progeroid syndrome are reported. The first is a 24-year-old girl who has been healthy till her 13th birthday. From that time she has been suffering from a progressive generalized and multi-systemic illness. The cardinal clinical findings were growth retardation, subcutaneous fat loss, skin dryness and wrinkling, scattered focal sclerodermoid-like changes, promin...
full textSynthesis of 2-cyclopentenones by gold(I)-catalyzed Rautenstrauch rearrangement.
The rearrangement of 1-ethynyl-2-propenyl pivaloates to cyclopentenones catalyzed by cationic triphenylphosphinegold(I) complexes is described. The reaction tolerates both alkyl and aryl substitution at the acetylenic and olefinic positions. Importantly, the gold(I)-catalyzed rearrangement of enantioenriched propargyl pivaloates proceeds with excellent chirality transfer, thus providing a pract...
full textFarnesylated lamins, progeroid syndromes and farnesyl transferase inhibitors.
Three mammalian nuclear lamin proteins, lamin B(1), lamin B(2) and the lamin A precursor, prelamin A, undergo canonical farnesylation and processing at CAAX motifs. In the case of prelamin A, there is an additional farnesylation-dependent endoproteolysis, which is defective in two congenital diseases: Hutchinson-Gilford progeria (HGPS) and restrictive dermopathy (RD). These two diseases arise r...
