Abstract:

The essential oil was obtained by hexan. The sample oil, which was light yellow in color, was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and stored under nitrogen in a sealed vial until required. The oil obtained was analyzed by GC-MS and GC/MS. The components of the oil were identified by comparison of their mass spectra to those of a computer library or with authentic compounds and confirmed by comparison of their retention indices, either those of authentic compounds or data published in the literature. The essential oil wasisolated by steam distillation from flowers of cultivated Jasminum humile in Iran. It was analyzed by GC-MS and GC/MS. Among eighteen identified compounds, the major components were (Z)-?-ocimene (27.7%), p-cymene (13.3%), ?-pinene (13.1%) and carvone (12.2%). Other compounds present in appreciable amounts are ?-terpinene (8.4%), fenchol (7.3%), linalool (6.1%) and fenchone (3.6%).

Volatile Constituents of Matricaria chamomilla

The volatile oil obtained by hydrodistillation of the aerial parts of Matricaria chamomilla L. (Asteraceae) growing in Botanical Garden, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran, was investigated by gas chromatography (GC) and GC/ mass spectrometery (MS). Sixty-three components were characterized, representing 86.21% of the total oil components detected. α-B...

Chemical constituents of the root of Jasminum giraldii.

Two new compounds, ethylconiferin and (-)-lariciresinol 4-(6'''-O-cinnamyl-β-D-glucopyranoside), along with the three known compounds (+)-pinoresinol, (+)-cycloolivil, nobiletin, were isolated from the root of Jasminum girialdii. All these compounds were isolated for the first time from this source. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis and chemical m...

Volatile constituents throughout Brassica oleracea L. Var. acephala germination.

In this work, the volatile composition of kale ( Brassica oleracea L. var. acephala) and its variation during germination were monitored during the first 9 days of seedling development by headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) combined with gas chromatography/ion trap-mass spectrometry (GC/IT-MS). Differences were found among the materials in the distinct analyzed periods. A total of 6...

Volatile constituents of essential oils isolated from flowers and leaves of Eupatorium cannabinum L. from Iran

Hydro-distilled volatile oils from the flowers and leaves of Eupatorium cannabinum L. which gathered in Touchal on Mountain Alborz (Tehran province) in Iran were investigated mainly by a combination of GC and GC/MS. Thirty-nine components were identified in the oils. The main constituents of the essential oils in flowers and leaves were germacrene D (27.3%, 37.1%), gemacrene B (12.4%, 11.7%) an...
