Vaccination of rainbow trout against Streptococcus iniae infection: comparison of different routes of administration and different vaccines
Authors
Abstract:
Antibody production and clinical efficacy (relative percent survival RPS) were measured in 40±5g rainbow trout after immunization with two types of Streptococcus iniae vaccines consisting of formalin killed cells (FKC) and FKC enriched with the bacterial extracellular products (ECP) administered by intraperitoneal (i.p), immersion and oral routes at 16±1°C for 18 weeks. No significant difference was found in antibody levels among the fish i.p immunized with FKC enriched with ECP plus Freunds' adjuvant (FA), FKC plus FA and FKC vaccines (P>0.05), whilst the antibody production was significantly higher in these three groups than fish immunized by immersion and oral routes of FKC and FKC enriched ECP (P

15 صفحه اولSurvey on viability of Streptococcus iniae in frozen rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) following experimental infection
Streptococcus iniae is one of the most important agents that causes high mortality and losses in rainbow trout farms in Iran and the world. These bacteria can affects the consumers and people who deal with aquaculture via affected fish. So, viability of this bacterium in frozen fish and fish product can be useful for health care of consumers. A total of 90 rainbow trout, with average weight of ...

240 rainbow trout fingerlings weighting 16 gram were randomly allocated into three treatment groups including 0.5, 1.0and 1.5 gr/kg of Echinacea purpurea extract in food, and a control group (without EPE in food), each intriplicates for 60 days. At sampling times, some of hematological and biochemical parameters including C3 and C4 complements, oxygen free radicals, lysozyme activity, and other...
full textLactococcus garvieae and Streptococcus iniae infections in rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss: similar, but different diseases.
Clinical and macroscopic findings (anorexia, lethargy, loss of orientation and exophthalmia) indicate that Streptococcus iniae and Lactococcus garvieae infections of trout share some common features, but histopathology reveals notable differences between the 2 diseases. Meningitis and panophthalmitis are the main lesions among S. iniae infected trout, whereas L. garvieae infection results in a ...
