Using computer assisted sperm analysis (CASA) to monitoring the effects of zinc and Cadmium pollution on fish sperm
author
Abstract:
Since the quality of sperm is affected by water industrial or agriculture pollution, sperm motility was measured as a sensitive and accurate bioindicator of water quality. In this study, sperm motility was measured by a computer assisted sperm analysis after 24 hours exposure of sperm to different concentration of heavy metals) Cadmium and Zinc). The results show that the sperm motility was not related to the duration of exposure but to the metals concentration ration. The concentration of 1000ppm zinc or 2000ppm Cadmium could have adverse effect on sperm motility.

Effects of sauna on sperm movement characteristics of normal men measured by computer-assisted sperm analysis.
The effects of sauna exposure on sperm movement characteristics and other semen parameters were evaluated using computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA). A significant (p < 0.01) decrease in average path velocity (VAP), curvilinear velocity (VCL) and amplitude of lateral head displacement (ALH) was found after exposure to sauna for 2 weeks. The altered parameters returned to their original value...
full textEvaluation of Post Thawed Semen Motility of Holstein Bulls by Computer Assisted Sperm Analysis (casa)
The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of thawed semen of Holstein bull by computer assisted sperm analysis (CASA). A total sample of 40 straws imported from USA (total bulls = 4; 5 ejaculates per bull; 2 straws per ejaculate) was analysed by CASA using an IVOS. Semen motility was evaluated for kinetics parameters after thawing. The percentage of total mobile spermatozoa (%TMOB...

Corresponding Author: Robert Toman Department of Veterinary Disciplines, Slovak University of Agriculture, Nitra, Slovakia Email: [email protected] Abstract: The accumulation of Selenium (Se) and Cadmium (Cd) and their effects on sperm motility parameters in rats were investigated. Male rats were dosed with Cd (group A: 2 mg kg −1 b.w., intraperitoneally, group B: 30 mg L −1 , per os in dri...
full textEffects of diluting medium and holding time on sperm motility analysis by CASA in ram
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of dilution rate and holding time on various motility parameters using computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA). The semen samples were collected from three Ghezel rams. Samples were diluted in seminal plasma (SP), phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 1% bovine serum albumin (BSA) and Bioexcell. The motility parameters that computed and rec...

Although the efficacy of computer assisted sperm analysis (CASA) has been demonstrated for use with a variety of species in assessing male reproductive quality as well as the impact of various treatments on sperm motility, many investigations continue to rely on manual analytical methods. CASA has been consistently shown to outperform such methods in terms of reproducibility as well as in the v...
