Ultrasonic Irradiation Assisted Enantioselective Synthesis of Alzheimer’s Disease Drug Rivastigmine Tartrate by Using Nanocatalyst
Authors
Abstract:
A highly efficient and convenient procedure for the enantioselective synthesis of (S)-Rivastigmine tartrate, a cholinergic agent for the treatment of mild to moderate dementia of the Alzheimer’s disease, is accomplished by the treatment of versatile, readily accessible N-Ethyl-N-methyl carbamoyl chloride with 3-hydroxyacetophenone under ultrasonic irradiation in presence of nano-K2CO3 were reported. This protocol provided a high yielding stereoselective and short synthesis of (S)-Rivastigmine tartrate with an overall isolated yield of 83%. All the starting reagents and catalyst are inexpensive and commercially available.Compared to conventional heating which provides thermal energy in the macro system, ultra sonification reduces reaction times, improves yields and minimizes side product formation by providing the activation energy in micro environment. As this technology involves energy conservation and minimal waste generation, it is widely accepted as a green chemistry approach. The reported strategy afforded under ultrasonic irradiation and in presence of Nano-K2CO3 via four steps, which (to the best of our knowledge) depicts the shortest and the most rapid method to enantiopure Rivastigmine tartrate reported to date.

Enantioselective Synthesis of Modafinil Drug using Chiral Complex of Titanium and Diethyltartarate
Modafinil (Diphenyl methyl Sulfinyl acetamid) is used clinically in the treatment of narcolepsy and sleeping disorders. The synthesis of R-modafinil, have started with the reaction of benzhydrol and thioglycolic acid in trifluoroacetic acid to afford benzhydryl sulfanyl acetic acid. The reaction of acid with thionyl chloride in benzene followed by treatment with ammonium hydroxide gave acetamid...
full textUltrasonic irradiation assisted efficient regioselective synthesis of CF3-containing pyrazoles catalyzed by Cu(OTf)2/Et3N
BACKGROUND Most of the known approaches to the synthesis of CF3-containing organic compounds suffer from serious drawbacks. For example the starting materials required for these methods are rather difficult to obtain, or they are fairly toxic and inconvenient to work with and methods for direct fluorination and trifluoromethylation do not always allow the introduction of the CF3-group at the re...
full textUltrasonic-assisted solvothermal synthesis of self-assembled Copper Ferrite nanoparticles
The aim of this work was to characterize copper ferrite nanoparticles synthesized via solvothermal method and to investigate the effects of ultrasonic waves on the synthesis efficiency. Crystal structure, functional groups, microstructure, particle size, magnetic properties, specific surface area, porosity distribution and photocatalytic activity of the synthesized nanoparticles were also inves...
full textUltrasonic Assisted Synthesis and Characterization of xCuO/CeO2–γAl2O3 Nanoatalysts
In this paper, xCuO/CeO2–γAl2O3 nano-catalysts were successfully synthesized by precipitation from an aqueous solution which modified via ultrasonic waves. For characterization of xCuO/CeO2–γAl2O3 samples N2 adsorption results showed that the BET surface area of the CuO/CeO2–γAl2O3, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-rays (EDX dot-mapping) were u...

Perlite or pearl stone is a natural glass which has formed by rapid cooling of viscous lava or magma. Perlite is mainly composed of silica, aluminum, potassium and sodium. In this experiment, perlite was used as a low-cost source of Si and Al to synthesis of sodalite zeolite using the alkaline hydrothermal treatment. A statistical Taguchi design of experiments was employed to evaluate the effec...
