Abstract:

A green environmental friendly process for preparing monodispersed cuprous oxide nanoparticles is reported. In this process, cuprous oxide is prepared using Cu(OH)42- as precursor and glucose as reducing agency in the presence of dispersant under ultrasonic radiation. Spherical, welldispersed Cu2O nanoparticles were obtained with the average size of 200 nm or 1.5 μm, respectively, with or without cetyltrimethylammonium bromide as surfactants. In the process, the sonochemical method comparing to the other methods which have been used, is very fast and it does not need high temperature during the reaction. It is noticeable that the reducing agency is natural product and the reaction is nearly completed with less than 0.5 mg/L Cu2+ left in the waste water under ultrasonic radiation, up to the discharge standard of wastewater.

Chemical Dynamics of Monodispersed Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

This study is comprised of the synthesis and characterization of uniform fine particles of iron oxide in different shapes and sizes. Varying amounts of iron (III) chloride and sodium dihydrogen phosphate was heated at 98 oC for various periods, following the forced hydrolysis method. Scanning electron microscopic analysis showed that the shape and size of the precipitated particl...

Hormesis Effects of Nano- and Micro-sized Copper Oxide

The concerns about the possible risk of manufactured nanoparticles (NPs) have been raised recently. Nano- and micro-sized copper oxide (CO and CONP) are widely used in many industries. In this regard, in-vitro studies have demonstrated that CONP is a toxic compound in different cell lines. Despite their unique properties, NPs possess unexpected toxicity profiling relative to the bulk m...

Developing of Corrosion Resistance Nano Copper Oxide Coating on Copper using Anodization in Oxalate solution

Copper alloys are widely used in the manufacturing of heat transfer applications, this due to their excellent heat transfer properties. Copper contamination is one of the serious industrial problems in the boiler feed water system. This contamination commonly resulted from copper corrosion reactions in boiler feed water environment. The best way to reduce the copper contamination is by improvin...

Fabrication of Copper and Iron Nano/Micro Structures on Semiconducting Substrate and Their Electrical Characterization

In this paper, we have studied the electrical properties of the randomly distributed metallic (Co and Fe) nano/ micro wires on Silicon substrate. Deposition was carried out potentiostatically into the pores of the track-etch polycarbonate membrane spin coated onto the Si substrate. Spin coated films were irradiated with 150MeV Ni (+11) ions at a fluence of 8E7 ions/cm2, followed by UV irradiati...
