Two-machine robotic cell considering different loading and unloading times
Authors
Abstract:
In this paper, the researchers have investigated a Concatenated Robot Move (CRM) sequence problem and Minimal Part Set (MPS) schedule problem with different setup times for two-machine robotic cell. They have focused on simultaneous solving of CRM sequence and MPS schedule problems with different loading and unloading times. They have applied a Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm to provide a good solution rapidly. A domination rule has been developed and used in SA algorithm that strongly reduces the search space and increases speed and solution's quality of the algorithm. Numerical experiments indicate the results of the proposed SA from two points of view: quality of solution and consumed time.

full textScheduling a two-machine robotic cell: A solvable case
The paper deals with the scheduling of a robotic cell in which jobs are processed on two tandem machines. The job transportation between the machines is done by a transportation robot. The robotic cell has limitations on the intermediate space between the machines for storing the work-in-process. What complicates the scheduling problem is that the loading/unloading operation times are non-negli...
full textA genetic algorithm approach for a dynamic cell formation problem considering machine breakdown and buffer storage
Cell formation problem mainly address how machines should be grouped and parts be processed in cells. In dynamic environments, product mix and demand change in each period of the planning horizon. Incorporating such assumption in the model increases flexibility of the system to meet customer’s requirements. In this model, to ensure the reliability of the system in presence of unreliable machine...
full textComparison of Cell Viability and Embryoid Body Size of Two Embryonic Stem Cell Lines After Different Exposure Times to Bone Morphogenetic Protein 4
Background: Activation of bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) signaling pathway in embryonic stem (ES) cells plays an important role in controlling cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Adverse effects of BMP4 occur in a time dependent manner; however, little is known about the effect of different time exposure of this growth factor on cell number in culture media. In this study, ...
full textPerformance Prediction of a Flexible Manufacturing System
The present investigation presents a stochastic model for a flexible manufacturing system consisting of flexible machine, loading/unloading robot and an automated pallethandling device. We consider unreliable flexible manufacturing cell (FMC) wherein machine and robot operate under individual as well as common cause random failures. The pallethandling system is completely reliable. The pallet o...
full textActive signaling of leg loading and unloading in the cockroach.
The ability to detect changes in load is important for effective use of a leg in posture and locomotion. While a number of limb receptors have been shown to encode increases in load, few afferents have been demonstrated to signal leg unloading, which occurs cyclically during walking and is indicative of slipping or perturbations. We applied mechanical forces to the cockroach leg at controlled r...
