Abstract:

In this paper, we develop two piecewise polynomial methods for the numerical evaluation of Cauchy Principal Value integrals of oscillatory kind. The two piecewisepolynomial quadratures are compact, easy to implement, and are numerically stable. Two numerical examples are presented to illustrate the two rules developed, The convergence of the two schemes is proved and some error bounds obtained,

Hermite Interpolation and a Method for Evaluating Cauchy Principal Value Integrals of Oscillatory Kind

An alternative method to the method proposed in [10] for the numerical evaluation of integrals of the form ∫ 1 −1 e iφtf(t)dt, where f(t) has a simple pole in (−1, 1) and φ ∈ R may be large, has been developed. The method is based on a special case of Hermite interpolation polynomial and it is comparatively simpler and entails fewer function evaluations and thus faster, but the two methods are ...

Two general methods for the numerical approximation of multidimensional Cauchy principal value integrals

The numerical approximation of integrals containing strongly singular integrals, in particular Cauchy principal value integrals, is a major issue connected, e.g., to the boundary integral approach for many types of partial differential equations. Numerical Evaluation of Cauchy Principal Value Integrals with Singular Integrands

Convergence results are proved for sequences of interpolatory integration rules for Cauchy principal value integrals of the form -l k(x)(f(x)/(x-X))dx, -1<A<1, -i when f(x) is singular at a point { / À and the singularity is ignored or avoided. /:'

The Numerical Evaluation of Very Oscillatory Infinite Integrals by Extrapolation

Recently the author has given two modifications of a nonlinear extrapolation method due to Levin and Sidi, which enable one to accurately and economically compute certain infinite integrals whose integrands have a simple oscillatory behavior at infinity. In this work these modifications are extended to cover the case of very oscillatory infinite integrals whose integrands have a complicated and...
