Tracking Interval for Doubly Censored Data with Application of Plasma Droplet Spread Samples

Authors

Abstract:

Doubly censoring scheme, which includes left as well as right censored observations, is frequently observed in practical studies. In this paper we introduce a new interval say tracking interval for comparing the two rival models when the data are doubly censored. We obtain the asymptotic properties of maximum likelihood estimator under doubly censored data and drive a statistic for testing the null hypothesis that the proposed non-nested models are equally close to the true model against the alternative hypothesis that one model is closer when we are faced with an experimental situation. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to observe the behavior of the theoretical results, and the proposed methodology is illustrated with data from spreading of the micro plasma droplets. We also perform the statistical analysis of these data using the probability models including Weibull, Burr type XII, Burr type III and inverse Weibull distributions. One important result of this study is that the Burr type XII distribution, in contrast to inverse Weibull distribution, may describe more closely to Weibull distribution for spread factor data under doubly censored sample.

Stochastic EM algorithm for doubly interval-censored data.

In clinical trials, it is frequently of interest to estimate the time between the onset of two events (e.g. duration of response in oncology). Here, we consider the case where subjects are assessed at fixed visits but the initial event and the terminating event occur in between visits. This type of data, called doubly interval censored, is often analyzed with standard survival techniques, assum...

Statistical Analysis of Doubly Interval-Censored Failure Time Data

Doubly interval-censored failure time data refer to the failure time data where the survival time of interest is defined as the elapsed time between two related events. Furthermore, observations on the occurrences of both events could be rightor interval-censored. One field in which such data often occur is epidemiological studies where the two events may represent infection and subsequent onse...

A Bayesian analysis of multivariate doubly-interval-censored dental data.

A Bayesian survival analysis is presented to examine the effect of fluoride-intake on the time to caries development of the permanent first molars in children between 7 and 12 years of age using a longitudinal study conducted in Flanders. Three problems needed to be addressed. Firstly, since the emergence time of a tooth and the time it experiences caries were recorded yearly, the time to carie...

Model Selection Based on Tracking Interval Under Unified Hybrid Censored Samples

The aim of statistical modeling is to identify the model that most closely approximates the underlying process. Akaike information criterion (AIC) is commonly used for model selection but the precise value of AIC has no direct interpretation. In this paper we use a normalization of a difference of Akaike criteria in comparing between the two rival models under unified hybrid cens...

Imputation methods for doubly censored HIV data.

In medical research, it is common to have doubly censored survival data: origin time and event time are both subject to censoring. In this paper, we review simple and probability-based methods that are used to impute interval censored origin time and compare the performance of these methods through extensive simulations in the one-sample problem, two-sample problem and Cox regression model prob...

Nonparametric Bayes Estimator of Survival Functions for Doubly/interval Censored Data

The non-parametric Bayes estimator with Dirichlet process prior of a survival function based on right censored data was considered by Susarla and Van Ryzin (1976) and many others. We obtain the non-parametric Bayes estimator of a survival function when data are right, left or interval censored. The resulting Bayes estimator with Dirichlet process prior has an explicit formula. In contrast, ther...
