Towards Measuring the Project Management Process During Large Scale Software System Implementation Phase
Authors
Abstract:
Project management is an important factor to accomplish the decision to implement large-scale software systems (LSS) in a successful manner. The effective project management comes into play to plan, coordinate and control such a complex project. Project management factor has been argued as one of the important Critical Success Factor (CSF), which need to be measured and monitored carefully during the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) systems. The goal of this article is to develop âACSF-Live!âAI which is a method for measuring, monitoring, and controlling critical success factors of large-scale software systems. To achieve such goal, we apply CSF-Live for the project management CSF. The CSF-Live uses the Goal/Question/Metric paradigm (GQM) to yield a flexible framework containing several metrics that we used it to develop a formulation to enable the measurement of the project management CSF. The formulation that we developed for the project management CSF implies that the significance of having proper project management when conducting an ERP system implementation, since it is positively associated with the success of the ERP.

Approaches for Measuring Software Project Management Effectiveness
Evaluating, monitoring, and improving the effectiveness of project management can contribute to successful acquisition of software systems. According to our empirical studies on a range of software development projects, half of the variation in software project success ratings may be explained by project management effectiveness measurements. To improve the quality of the management, to focus o...
full textA partition-based algorithm for clustering large-scale software systems
Clustering techniques are used to extract the structure of software for understanding, maintaining, and refactoring. In the literature, most of the proposed approaches for software clustering are divided into hierarchical algorithms and search-based techniques. In the former, clustering is a process of merging (splitting) similar (non-similar) clusters. These techniques suffered from the drawba...
full textIntelligent System for Urban Emergency Management during Large-Scale Disaster
The frequency and intensity of natural disasters has significantly increased over the past decades and this trend is predicted to continue. Facing these possible and unexpected disasters, urban emergency management has become the especially important issue for the whole governments around the world. In this paper, we present a novel intelligent system for urban emergency management during the l...
full textDecision process in large-scale crisis management
This paper deals with the decision-aiding process in large-scale crisis such as natural disasters. It consists in four phases: decision context characterisation, system modelling, aggregation and integration. The elements of the context, such as crisis level, risk situation, decision-makers, problem issue are defined through the characterisation phase. At the feared event occurrence, these elem...
full textSystem Dynamics in Software Project Management: towards the development of a formal integrated framework
Successful software development is becoming increasingly important as software basedsystems are at the core of a company`s new products. However, recent surveys show that most projects fail to meet their targets highlighting the inadequacies of traditional project management techniques to cope with the unique characteristics of this field. Despite the major breakthroughs in the discipline of so...
