Topiramate-induced Neuropathy Mimicking Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: A Case Report
Authors
Abstract:
Carpel tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition in which median nerve compression results in paresthesias and pain in thewrist and hand. We are going to report a rare case of topiramate-induced neuropathy which clinically resembles CTS.Discontinuation of topiramate resulted in spontaneous resolution of numbness, paresthesia and pain in a few days. Highclinical suspicion is advised in patients who are on topiramate and present with signs of compressive neuropathy.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in Association with Klippel-Trénaunay Syndrome: A Case Report
Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome is a rare congenital condition that rarely affects peripheral nerves. Median nerve involvement at carpal tunnel level has only been reported in a few occasions in the medial literature. A 61 years old Caucasian female patient with Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome presented with a 10 months history of paraesthesiae and numbness affecting the median nerve distribution area...
full textA Case Report on Topiramate Induced Myopia
This is a case report of acute myopia following topiramate administration. There are several reports of this side effect recently and fortunately all of them were reversible. In our case we tried again topiramate with very low dose and increase it very slowly, the patient was followed and she tolerated it well and didnt find ocular problem anymore. So it could be suggested that starting with lo...
full textCarpal tunnel syndrome caused by lipoma: a case report
Lipoma is a relatively frequent, benign soft-tissue tumor rarely located in the hand. A lipoma of the hand causing a carpal tunnel syndrome by compression of the median nerve is exceptional. We report the case of a 70-year-old female presenting with a carpal tunnel syndrome. A compression of the median nerve by a lipoma was discovered during surgery. Transverse carpal ligament release with lipo...

Wasting of the thenar muscles secondary to traumatic or degenerative lesions around the wristjoint has been recognised for over 100 years. In 1863 Sir James Paget described a patient whose median nerve was compressed by callus after a fracture at the wrist. Many examples of median nerve compression have since been reported where the capacity of the carpal tunnel has been reduced by osseous prot...
full textPeriarticular calcification causing acute carpal tunnel syndrome: a case report.
We report a case of acute carpal tunnel syndrome caused by periarticular calcification (hydroxyapatite deposition disease) around the wrist joint in a 64-year-old woman. She had acute severe pain, exacerbated by wrist movements and extension of the fingers. Her full blood count, urea, electrolytes, uric acid, calcium, phosphate, alkaline phosphatase, and thyroid function levels were all within ...
full textGouty wrist arthritis causing carpal tunnel syndrome--a case report.
A 63 year old male with a history of gout and hypertension presented with carpal tunnel syndrome. He gave history of bilateral wrist pain associated with numbness over the median nerve distribution of the hand. Tinels sign and Phalens test were positive with no obvious thenar muscle wasting on examination. Tophaceous deposits in the flexor tendons and within the synovium of the wrist joint was ...
