Three-body wear of different composites resins
Authors
Abstract:
Introduction: Low resistance of composite resins to abrasion is a primary concern in the application of these materials for posterior restorations which are prone to high occlusal loads. This study compared the wear resistance of three types of composites. Methods: In this laboratory experiment, five specimens of each of the three types of composites (z250, Heliomolar, Opallis) were prepared separately in brass molds. Composites were placed in 1-mm layers and were cured for 40 seconds. Using an abrasive device, Pedeb 1, with a chrome-cobalt abrasor, the specimens were abraded under a 20-MPa force, after 5000, 20000, 40000, 80000, 120000 abrasive rotations. Before and after all abrasion cycles, the specimens were weighed with an electronic balance with a precision of 10-4 g. The collected data were analyzed using paired samples statistics t-test and ANOVA analysis. Results: All the specimens showed a reduction pattern from the initial weights to weights after 120000 abrasive rotations. With more abrasive rotations, greater weight reduction occurs and this is of statistical significance. ANOVA analysis showed no significant difference between the three types of composites yet, the z250 and Heliomolar groups were associated with the least and the greatest amount of wear, respectively. Conclusions: In all specimens, significant weight reduction occurred after abrasion but there were no significant differences between the 3 types of composites.

Two-body and three-body abrasive wear behaviour of polyaryletherketone composites
Single and multipass two-body and three-body abrasive wear behaviour of various polyaryletherketone composites have been carried out by using a pin-on-disc machine and a rubber wheel abrasion test (RWAT) rig. Abrasive wear studies were conducted under different loads and sliding distances. Comparative wear performance of all the composites at different loads shows that specific wear rate (Ko) o...

Original scientific paper The experiment centres on two and three body abrasion in three-phase waste-based composite systems. The composite systems abrasion resistance is defined not only by the physical-mechanical relationships of the separate phases of the composite, but also by the mutual interaction of the phases and on the matrix-filler interface. To describe the composite system abrasion ...

OBJECTIVES The aim of the study was to evaluate two ceramic materials as possible substitutes for enamel using two wear simulation methods, and to compare both methods with regard to the wear results for different materials. METHODS Flat specimens (OHSU n=6, Ivoclar n=8) of one compomer and three composite materials (Dyract AP, Tetric Ceram, Z250, experimental composite) were fabricated and s...
full textWear of Aged Dental Composites
Surface morphology and wear characteristics of five dental composites subjected to accelerated aging were investigated. Aging conditions caused degradation of the surface as evidenced by the formation of microcracks and the exposure and loss of filler particles. Wear parameters such as track width, transition load and mode of surface failure caused by single-pass sliding were influenced by agin...

In this article, the mechanical and three body abrasive wear behavior of Bidirectional and short Kevlar fiber reinforced epoxy composites at five different fiber loading (10wt%, 20wt%, 30wt%, 40wt% and 50wt%) have been evaluated. The mechanical properties i.e. tensile strength, flexural strength, inter-laminar-shear strength, and impact strength are performed to notice the behavior of mechanica...
