THERMODYNAMIC STUDIES ON THE INTERACTION BETWEEN DODECYL TRIMETHYL AMMONIUM BROMIDE AND HISTONE H A
Authors: not saved
Abstract:
The thermodynamic parameters of interaction between calf thymus histone H A and dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB), a cationic surfactant, in aqueous solutions of pH 3.2, 6.4 and 10.0 were measured over a wide range of DTAB concentrations by equilibrium dialysis at 27°C and 37°C and are discussed. The data are used to determine the free energy from the Wyman binding potential theoretical model, and the enthalp y of interaction from the temperature dependence of the equilibrium constants using the van't Hoff relation. The data obtained for H A-DTAB are compared with the corresponding data for H A and sodium n-dodecyl sulphate (SDS) complexes. The difference between the cationic and anionic surfactants interaction in regard to histone H A is discussed

Thermodynamic Studies on the Interaction of Histone H2B with Dodecyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide
The interaction of histone H2B and dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB) was studies via equilibrium dialysis method at two different temperatures, at pH 6.4 in phosphate buffer. The binding data were used to obtain the Gibbs free energy of interaction, which is interpreted in terms of a theoretical model based on the Wyman binding potential. The data were then used to obtain...

Binding studies of cationic detergents such as cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide, Cetyl pyridinium bromide and dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide with β Lactoglobulin were carried out by equilibrium dialysis, ultraviolet difference and circular dichroism techniques at 25 C. Binding isotherms at pH 5·0, 7·0 and 9·0 show cooperative binding at all concentrations of detergents and the number of avai...

A Study was made on the interaction between histon H1 and sodium n-dodecyl sulphate (SDS) in the presence of sodium arsenate inside a phosphate buffer of pH 6.4, using spectroscopy and equilibrium dialysis at 27 °C. The binding data has been used to obtain the gibbs free energy in terms of a theoretical model based on the Wyman binding potential. The binding data hs been analysed...

full textThe Germicidal Properties of Certain Quarternary Ammonium Salts With Special Reference to Cetyl-Trimethyl-Ammonium Bromide.
In 1916 Jacobs, Heidelberger, and coworkers at the Rockefeller Institute reported the discovery of a new class of synthetic compounds which possessed potent bactelicidal properties. By reacting hexamethylenetetramine with a large variety of substituted benzylor alkyl-halides, nujmerous quaternary salts of this base were obtained. It was observed that most of these salts had pronounced bacterici...
full textMyristyl trimethyl ammonium bromide and octadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide are surface-active small molecule dynamin inhibitors that block endocytosis mediated by dynamin I or dynamin II.
Dynamin is a GTPase enzyme involved in membrane constriction and fission during endocytosis. Phospholipid binding via its pleckstrin homology domain maximally stimulates dynamin activity. We developed a series of surface-active small-molecule inhibitors, such as myristyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (MiTMAB) and octadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (OcTMAB), and we now show MiTMAB targets the dyna...
