Thermodynamic Properties for Argon
Authors: not saved
Abstract:
An analytical equation of state is applied to calculate the thermodynamic properties for argon. Theequation of state is that of Song and Mason. It is based on a statistical-mechanical perturbation theory ofhard convex bodies and can be written as fifth-order polynomial in the density. There exist three temperaturedependentparameters: the second virial coefficient, an effective molecular volume, and a scaling factorfor the average contact pair distribution function of hard convex bodies. We used Lennard-Jones (12-6)potential for calculation temperature-dependent parameters. The equation of state has been applied tocalculate thermodynamic properties including the internal energy, the enthalpy, the entropy, the heat capacityat constant pressure, and the speed of sound for argon. The theoretical results are in good agreement withthe experimental data.

full textMultishock Compression Properties of Warm Dense Argon
Warm dense argon was generated by a shock reverberation technique. The diagnostics of warm dense argon were performed by a multichannel optical pyrometer and a velocity interferometer system. The equations of state in the pressure-density range of 20-150 GPa and 1.9-5.3 g/cm(3) from the first- to fourth-shock compression were presented. The single-shock temperatures in the range of 17.2-23.4 kK...

Very accurate thermodynamic potential functions are available for fluid water, ice, seawater and humid air covering wide ranges of temperature and pressure conditions. They permit the consistent computation of all equilibrium properties as, for example, required for coupled atmosphereocean models or the analysis of observational or experimental data. With the exception of humid air, these poten...
