بعد از زایمان طبیعی ۲۵۰ زن بطور اتفاقی برای کاشتن نورپلانت در خلال ۴۸ ساعت اول زایمان (گروه مطالعه) و یا در ویزیت (پیگیری) ۶-۴ هفته بعد از زایمان (گروه کنترل) انتخاب شدند . ارزیابی های اولیه بصورت ثبت شده بود و با پیگیریهای ۴ - ۶ هفته بعد، مقایسه گردید. یادداشت روزانه ای هم توسط بیماران ثبت شده بود که میزان خونریزی و دیگر عوارض جانبی را مشخص می کرد.
