Abstract:

Background and Objectives: Biological scaffold resources composed of extracellular matrix (ECM) have been shown to make easy the practical remodeling of various tissues in both animal and human studies. The goal of current study was to make sheet form of ECM from sheep’s urinary bladder. Methods: ECM was extracted from Sheep’s urinary bladder according to standard method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was applied in order to analyze the ultrastructure of the extracted matrix. Results: Matrix was formed by irregular and fiber like particles. Conclusion: Sheep’s urinary bladder matrix may be used as an accessible and suitable source of ECM extraction.

An ultrastructural study of the urinary bladder in children correlated with histological, bacteriological, and clinical findings.

Bladder biopsies from six boys without a history of urinary tract infection were taken during hypospadias repair operations and examined by electron microscopy. The ultrastructure of the epithelium, which was presumed to represent the normal, is described in detail and compared with the reported findings in other mammalian species. The appearances are generally similar although in our material ...

PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA OF THE URINARY BLADDER

One of the rarest tumors involving the urinary bladder is the pheochromocytoma. A case of pheochromocytoma of the urinary bladder in a young female suffering from headache and cystitis for many years is reported. Twenty-four hour urine VMA was normal. The patient was never hypertensive except during surgical manipulation of the tumor. Biopsy of the bladder resulted in massive hemorrhage.

Fibroma of the urinary bladder: a light and ultrastructural study of a case with review of the literature in Japan.

A hard fibroma of the urinary bladder was found in an autopsy case of a 69 year-old female. The tumor, 10x9x6 cm, occurred in the superior wall of the bladder. Ultrastructurally, the principal cells of the tumor were myofibroblasts. Fibroblasts and fibrocytes were also present. Including our case, the number of reported cases of pure fibroma of the urinary bladder in Japan is 12. These are revi...
