The relationship between illness perception, pain control beliefs, emotional ataxia, and pain self-efficacy with headache-related disability in migraine headache sufferers.

Abstract:

Background and purpose: Chronic pain is a complex psychological experience that brings a lot of emotional and psychological pressure. This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between disease perception, pain control beliefs, emotional ataxia, and pain self-efficacy with headache-related disability in migraine patients.  Materials and methods: The research method was a correlational description. For this purpose, 220 people who met the criteria for entering the study were selected from among the migraine headache sufferers who visited the neurology clinics of Isfahan city in the fall of 1400 through available sampling. The participants in the research responded to the questionnaires of illness perception, pain control beliefs, Toronto ataxia, pain self-efficacy and headache disability. Data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise regression analysis. Findings: The results of the stepwise regression analysis showed that in the presence of all predictor variables and among these variables, alexia has the highest ability to predict disability caused by headache in migraine headache sufferers, followed by pain self-efficacy, disability caused by It predicts migraine in headache sufferers. Conclusion: The disability caused by migraine headache, which is highly seen among the sufferers of this type of disease, is influenced by many psychological variables, so it is suggested to pay more attention to the psychological health of patients in this regard.
