The first performance of myocardial perfusion scintigraphy, post intravenous Dipyridamole injection
author
Abstract:
SUMMARY Dipyridamolc-Thallium imaging is a relatively safe and accurate method to evaluate myocardial perfusion in patients who arc unable to exercise to a maximal exertion (5,6,8,9). A 51year-old woman was admitted to Taleghani hospital with clinical symptoms and signs of coronary artery disease. Intravenous dipyridamote-Thallium scan was performed in this case. In multiple views obtained from myocardium, reversible perfusion defects of posterolatcral, septa! walls and equivocally of inferior wall were noted. On coronary contrast angiography which performed later, 70%, 95% and 55% stenosis of L.A.D, circumicx and R.C.A was confirmed respectively.

Clinical data on 3,911 patients were collected from 64 individual investigators to evaluate the safety of intravenous dipyridamole-thallium imaging as an alternative to exercise thallium imaging for the evaluation of coronary artery disease. There were two deaths because of myocardial infarctions, two nonfatal myocardial infarctions, and six cases of acute bronchospasm. Chest pain occurred in 7...

full textEvaluation of myocardial perfusion and function after kidney transplantation by Gated SPECT myocardial perfusion scintigraphy
Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of successful kidney transplantation (KT) on myocardial perfusion and left ventricular function by both qualitative (visual) interpretation and semiquantitative parameters, using myocardial perfusion scintigraphy with gated-single photon emission computed tomography (gated-SPECT) in patients suffering from end-stage renal disease. ...
full textThe myocardial perfusion scintigraphy in asymptomatic diabetic patients
Introduction: Asymptomatic diabetic patients are at increased risk of cardiovascular complications. Myocardial perfusion scan may be effective in risk evaluation in this population. Methods: 106 asymptomatic diabetic patients (age: min: 37, max: 82, mean: 57.73±8.88), including 56 females (52.8%) and 50 males (47.2%) were enrolled in the study. Myocardial perfusion scintigraphy was performed b...
full textEffects of depression on myocardial perfusion scintigraphy [Persian]
Introduction: The relationship between depression and coronary artery disease is well established; however assessment of this relationship using functional and semi-quantitative imaging (myocardial perfusion scintigraphy) was lacking. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between the severity of depression and the severity of myocardial perfusion abno...
full textMyocardial perfusion scintigraphy.
Myocardial perfusion scintigraphy (MPS) is the only widely available method of direct assessment of myocardial perfusion. It involves intravenous injection of small amounts of a radioactive tracer at peak stress, followed by imaging of the heart with a gamma camera. There are three commercially available tracers: thallium-201 and two technetium-labelled tracers, sestamibi and tetrofosmin. All t...
