TESTING FOR “RANDOMNESS” IN SPATIAL POINT PATTERNS, USING TEST STATISTICS BASED ON ONE-DIMENSIONAL INTER-EVENT DISTANCES

Authors: not saved
Abstract:

To test for “randomness” in spatial point patterns, we propose two test statistics that are obtained by “reducing” two-dimensional point patterns to the one-dimensional one. Also the exact and asymptotic distribution of these statistics are drawn.

Faster Algorithms for Computing Distances between One-Dimensional Point Sets

Let S and T be two finite sets of points on the real line with |S| + |T | = n and |S| > |T |. We consider two distance measures between S and T that have applications in music information retrieval and computational biology: the surjection distance and the link distance. The former is called the restriction scaffold assignment problem in computational biology, and assigns each point of S to a p...

A Randomness Test for Stable Data

In this paper, we propose a new method for checking randomness of non-Gaussian stable data based on a characterization result. This method is more sensitive with respect to non-random data compared to the well-known non-parametric randomness tests.

Statistics of inter-particle distances and angles in plasmas

Accurate treatment of the plasma density effects requires a detailed knowledge of the spatial distribution of individual ions around a test ion. In the present work, rigorous expressions are derived for the main 2and 3-particle spatial distribution functions involving the nearest neighbor (NN) and the nextnearest neighbor (NNN) ions. These expressions, valid for both ideal and nonideal plasmas,...

Risk-Based Vulnerability Testing Using Security Test Patterns

This paper introduces an original security testing approach guided by risk assessment, by means of risk coverage, to perform and automate vulnerability testing for Web applications. This approach, called Risk-Based Vulnerability Testing, adapts Model-Based Testing techniques, which are mostly used currently to address functional features. It also extends Model-Based Vulnerability Testing techni...

Three-dimensional paper-based slip device for one-step point-of-care testing

In this study, we developed a new type of paper-based analytical device (PAD), the three-dimensional (3D) slip-PAD, to detect infectious human norovirus for global healthcare. The 3D configuration of the papers combined with a slip design provides unique features and versatility that overcome the limitations of fluidic manipulation and sensitivity in point-of-care (POC) tests. The assay can be ...
