Testicular Patch as Lymphatic Conduit in Canine Hind Limb
Authors
Abstract:
Background: Management of lymphedema is a challenging issue in surgery. A variety of operations have been used, albeit with little success. Objective: To investigate the efficacy of testicular patch as a lymphatic conduit. Methods: An incision was made on the inguinal area of 10 dogs and all lymph nodes of inguinal area were excised. The tunica albuginea and parenchyma near the hilum of testes were taken and transferred to the site of excised lymph nodes. Results: Microscopic study showed neovascularization of lymphatic duct in 80% of samples. Conclusion: Testicular patch graft can be used as a lymphatic conduit and implemented in the management of lymphedema.

full textOrthotopic Hind Limb Transplantation in the Mouse.
In vivo animal model systems, and in particular mouse models, have evolved into powerful and versatile scientific tools indispensable to basic and translational research in the field of transplantation medicine. A vast array of reagents is available exclusively in this setting, including mono- and polyclonal antibodies for both diagnostic and interventional applications. In addition, a vast num...
full textOrthotopic hind-limb transplantation in rats.
Composite tissue allotransplantation (CTA) now represents a valid therapeutic option after the loss of a hand, forearm or digits and has become a novel therapeutic entity in reconstructive surgery. However, long term high-dose multi-drug immunosuppressive therapy is required to ensure graft survival, bearing the risk of serious side effects which halters broader application. Further progression...
full textEffect of endotoxin on oxygen consumption by a flow-controlled canine hind-limb preparation.
The effect of endotoxin upon oxygen consumption in a peripheral vascular bed was assessed in a canine hind-limb preparation. The left iliac vessels in 12 adult male mongrel dogs were isolated, the artery cannulated proximally and distally such that arterial inflow could be routed through a roller pump, and a nonocclusive catheter placed in the vein. Oxygen consumption was then calculated as the...

Objective- The aim of this study was to determine the age of physical maturity and evaluation of radiology and histology of hind limb ossification centers in pigeon. Design- Fundamental study. Animals- 14 pigeons. Procedures- These pigeons were cultivated in identical and standard conditions and radiological and histological tests performed every 7 days to 91 days. Resu...
full textThe role of osteopontin in recovery from hind limb ischemia.
OBJECTIVE Osteopontin (OPN) is a highly phosphorylated extracellular matrix glycoprotein that is involved in a diversity of biological processes. In the vascular wall, OPN is produced by monocytes/macrophages, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells, and it is thought to mediate adhesion, migration, and survival of these cell types. In this study, we hypothesized that OPN plays a critical ro...
