Abstract:

This paper reports the synthesis of polypyrrole coated SnO2/ZnOelectrospunnanofibers via vapor phase polymerization method. In order to prepare one dimensional (SnO2- ZnO)/polypyrrole with the core sheath structure, first SnO2-ZnO composite nanofibers were synthesized via electrospinning method followed by adsorption of Fe 3+  on the surface of the SnO2-ZnO nanofibers and finally pyrrole was polymerized on the surface of the fibers. The results of simultaneous thermal analysis (STA), X- ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of the nanofibers confirmed the success of synthesis of (SnO2-ZnO)/polypyrrole core sheath compound.

Nanocomposite ZnO–SnO2 Nanofibers Synthesized by Electrospinning Method

We report the characterization of mixed oxides nanocomposite nanofibers of (1 - x) ZnO-(x)SnO2 (x ≤ 0.45) synthesized by electrospinning technique. The diameter of calcined nanofibers depends on Sn content. Other phases like SnO, ZnSnO3, and Zn2SnO4 were absent. Photoluminescence studies show that there is a change in the blue/violet luminescence confirming the presence of Sn in Zn-rich composi...

Synthesis of Porous NiO and ZnO Submicro- and Nanofibers from Electrospun Polymer Fiber Templates

Porous nickel oxide (NiO) and zinc oxide (ZnO) submicro- and nanofibers were synthesized by impregnating electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber templates with corresponding metal nitrate aqueous solutions and subsequent calcination. The diameter of the NiO and ZnO fibers was closely related to that of the template fibers and larger diameters were obtained when using the template fibers with ...

Electrospun ZnO/TiO2 composite nanofibers as a bactericidal agent.

Novel ZnO/TiO(2) composite nanofibers were fabricated by an electrospinning method and showed excellent antimicrobial activity against gram-negative Escherichia coli and gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus under UV irradiation and in the absence of light.

Surface modification of electrospun cellulose acetate nanofibers via RAFT polymerization for DNA adsorption.

We report on a facile and robust method by which surface of electrospun cellulose acetate (CA) nanofibers can be chemically modified with cationic polymer brushes for DNA adsorption. The surface of CA nanofibers was functionalized by growing poly[(ar-vinylbenzyl)trimethylammonium chloride)] [poly(VBTAC)] brushes through a multi-step chemical sequence that ensures retention of mechanically robust...

Aligned electrospun ZnO nanofibers for simple and sensitive ultraviolet nanosensors.

The current of uni-axially aligned electrospun ZnO nanofibers is modulated reversibly under UV irradiation, with the sensitivity of the UV nanosensors depending on the surface coating of the nanofibers, due to the effect on the photo-generated current.
