Abstract:

The silica aerogel was prepared by the acid–base sol–gel polymerization of tetraethylorthosilicate precursor followed by ambient pressure drying. The prepared silica aerogels were characterized by Fourier transform infrared )FT-IR(, Thermo-gravimetric and differential thermal analysis )TG/DTA(, X-ray diffractometer )XRD(, Energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis )EDX(, Brunauer–Emmitt–Teller (BET)  and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The result silica aerogel is a light and crack-free solid with very low bulk density 0.027 g /cm3, high specific surface area 655.58 m2/ g and large pore volume 0.4831 cm3/ g. The average size of particles was calculated using a Microstructure Measurement program and Minitab statistical software.

Sol–Gel Synthesis and Characterization of Microporous Silica Membranes

It has been reported in the literature that the composition Unsupported silica membranes were prepared by acid-catalyzed of the synthesis solution influences the structure of the spehydrolysis and condensation of tetraethylorthosilicate. The possicies in the sol (3) and, hence, the final structure of the bility of tailoring the pore size and porosity of microporous silica membrane. This possibi...

Modification of Silica surface by Titanium sol synthesis and characterization

Hydrophobic silica titanium nanoparticles (STNPs) were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel process using liquid modification. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) studies were demonstrated the attachment of titanium on the silica surface. Titanium content enhanced the agglomeration of particles as shown in topography results. The N2 adsorption-desorption followed T...

Synthesis, characterization, of Fluorohydroxyapatite nanopowders by sol-gel processing

In this work, sol-gel processing was used to synthesize the fluorohydroxyapatite (nano-FHA, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2−xFx) nanopowders. The advantages of the sol-gel method over other methods are precise control of composition, low processing temperature, and better homogeneity. Calcium nitrate tetrahydrate, phosphorous pentoxide and Tetrabuthylammon...

Synthesis and Characterization of ZnO Nanoparticles Using Sol-gel Process

In the Present work structural, morphological and compositional properties of ZnO nanopowders synthesized using Zinc nitrate and NaOH using sol-gel process were reported. The synthesized nanopowders were further analyzed using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic characterizations. Crystalline size and Lattice strain det...
