Study of reasons unvaccinated people against COVID- 19 among eligible population of Fars province

Abstract:

Aims: The new coronavirus (Covid-19), as a second epidemic of the 21st century, causes severe acute respiratory syndrome in patients. This study was designed to determine the causes of not vaccinating people against COVID -19 in the eligible population of Fars province. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on all unvaccinated individuals based on information available in comprehensive health centers. A sample of 12889 people was selected. Data collection instrument was a researcher-made checklist that was completed in the form of a telephone interview. Data analysis was done through SPSS version 22 using descriptive statistics and Chi-score significance test at a significance level of 5%. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software version22 through descriptive statistical method and chi-square statistical tests at a significance level of 5%. Results: The age range was 12 to 110 years old and the mean age was 20.63 ± 39.60 years. Of these, 49.4% were men. The most common reason for not being vaccinated is the fear of vaccine side effects and in second place is the lack of belief in vaccines is the lack of belief in vaccines. Of   in the present study population, about 13.8% had received the vaccine in another city or province, the number of which had not been recorded, and 6.9% of individuals had also died.  The most age group was 25 to 35 years old (17.6% of men and 22% of women and 19.8% in total), the percentage of unvaccinated women was significantly higher than men (p<0.001). Conclusion: in the present study, the most common reason for not vaccinating people was the fear of vaccine side effects and the belief that it was ineffective. It is necessary for the health information departments to make more efforts in this regard and to provide the necessary information according to these cases.
