Structural Properties of Multirate Sampled-Data Systems

Authors

Abstract:

The application of Networked Control Systems (NCS) in which sensory and control signals are transmitted via shared data communication networks, is growing significantly and these systems have been the subject of research during the last decade. On the other hand, multirate sampled data systems have been investigated since a long time. In this paper, conditions under which a networked control system could be modeled as a multi rate sampled data system are provided. After that, using recent results in the field of networked control systems, existing results for controllability and stabilizability of multi rate sampled data systems are enhanced. For this purpose, sufficient conditions are provided based on the system eigenvalues, to preserve controllability (stabilizability) of a multi rate sampled data system. The results are compared to the existing results in the literature. A numerical example is included as well for clarification and comparison.

Fault Diagnosis in Multirate Sampled Data Systems

In this paper we present three new schemes for sensor and actuator fault diagnosis for linear time-invariant systems: multirate parity-space techniques, multirate observers, and multirate detection filters. We show that these approaches offer distinct advantages over conventional fault diagnosis schemes in terms of ease of failure detection, the speed and the class of systems for which detectio...

H∞ design of general multirate sampled-data control systems

Direct digital design of general multirate sampled-data systems is considered. To tackle causality constraints, a new and natural framework is proposed using nest operators and nest algebras. Based on this framework explicit solutions to the H1 and H2 multirate control problems are developed in the frequency domain.

Fault Detection in Multirate Sampled-data Systems with Time-delays

In this paper, an approach is proposed to the fault detection in multirate sampled-data (MSD) systems with multiple time-delays in both input and output channels. The background of our study is the increasing demands for fault detection in complex, distributed process control systems, where the plant, controllers, sensors and actuators are networked by standardized bus systems. The core of the ...

Multirate Digital Signal Processing via Sampled-Data H-infinity Optimization

In this thesis, we present a new method for designing multirate signal processing and digital communication systems via sampled-data H control theory. The difference between our method and conventional ones is in the signal spaces. Conventional designs are executed in the discrete-time domain, while our design takes account of both the discrete-time and the continuoustime signals. Namely, our m...

H 1 Control of Multirate Sampled - Data Systems : A Riccati Equation

A Riccati-equation based state-space solution to the H 1-optimal control problem for periodic multirate sampled-data systems is presented. The solution is characterized by two standard discrete algebraic Ric-cati equations with a set of associated matrix positive deeniteness conditions and coupling criteria. The equations are derived by discretizing a pair of coupled periodic Riccati diierentia...
