Abstract:

During 2003-05 Iranian provinces in the Southern Caspian coast (Gilan, Mazandaran and GolestanProvinces, N. Iran) were investigated in order to collect and identify fungicolous species on various fungal hosts. Fifty-seven isolates were obtained and these were classified into seven genera, Acremonium, Cladobotryum, Fusarium, Sepedonium, Hypomyces, Lecanicillium, Simplicillium and Trichoderma. Among 13 species obtained, Acremonium cf. recifei, Cladobotryum purpureum, C. mycophilum, Sepedonium microspermum, Simplicillium lanosoniveum, Lecanicillium wallacei are new records for Iran. A few isolates belonging to Acremonium, Fusarium and Sepedonium (Table 1) could not be identified to species level with the available methods and literature. Trichoderma was the most frequently isolated genus.

Simulation of rice production under climate change scenarios in the Southern coasts of Caspian Sea

Climate change has direct and indirect consequences on crop production and food security. Agriculture and cropproduction is one of the factors which depend on the weather conditions and it provides the human requirements inmany aspects. The objective of this study is to assess the impacts of future climatic change on irrigated rice yieldusing the CERES-Rice model in the Southern Coast of Caspia...

Isolation and Screening of Lipolytic Fungi From Coastal Waters of the Southern Caspian Sea (North of Iran)

BACKGROUND Lipases (acylglycerol acylhydrolase, E. C. 3. 1. 1. 3) are widely distributed among microorganisms, animals and plants, catalyzing the hydrolysis of triglycerides to free fatty acids and glycerol. Their commercial application includes pharmaceutical, chemical, and paper industries. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to isolate and screen lipolytic fungi from coastal waters of the southern...

Spatial and Temporal Variation of Macroalgae along the Southern Coasts of the Caspian Sea Relating to Environmental Parameters

Macroalgae are considered as primary producers in ecosystem food chain. This study investigated spatial and temporal variation of three species of macroalgae namely, Laurencia caspica (red macroalga) Enteromorpha intestinalis and Cladophora glomerata (green macroalgae) on the hard substrates of the southern Caspian Sea coasts and their relation with environmental factors. Seasonal sampling pref...

The Anti-melanogenesis Activities of Some Selected Red Macroalgae from Northern Coasts of the Persian Gulf

Tyrosinase is a key enzyme in melanin production. Therefore, tyrosinase inhibitors are used in cosmetic and medicinal industries to prevent or treat overproduction of melanin such as melasma, solar lentigo and post inflammatory melanoderma. Due to safety of natural whitening agents, in the present study, in-vitro anti-tyrosinase and in-vivo anti-melanogenesis activities of some selected red mac...
