Abstract:

This paper concerns two-hop communication over relay-assisted Block fading channel. It is assumed there is not a direct link between the transmitter and the affiliated destination and the communication occurs in two hops through the use of a relay, where the amplify and forward (AF) strategy is employed at this node. In this case, in a Rayleigh block fading channel, the optimal weight function at the relay in terms of maximizing the received signal to noise ratio (SNR) at the destination is derived, assuming the relay is aware of channel gains associated with both hops and that the relay is subject to an average power constraint. Finally, the resulting SNR is compared to the case of having a peak power constraint at the relay which is served as a benchmark throughout the simulations.

SNR Maximization through CSI based Relay-Subset Selection in Amplify-and- Forward Cognitive Radio Networks

This paper addresses the issues in Underlay Cognitive Radio Networks employing amplify-and-forward relaying. The secondary users operating in an underlay mode in the frequency band of primary users must satisfy interference constraints to keep primary communication undisturbed. We propose a solution to this problem using cognitive relays and perform channel state information (CSI) based relay s...

Sum-Rate Maximization Based on Power Constraints for Cooperative AF Relay Networks

In this paper, our objective is maximizing total sum-rate subject to power constraints on total relay transmit power or individual relay powers, for amplify-and-forward single-antenna relay-based wireless communication networks. We derive a closed-form solution for the total power constraint optimization problem and show that the individual relay power constraints optimization problem is a quad...

SNR Maximization through Relay Selection in Cognitive Radio Networks

In this study, we apply Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) optimization to the problem of relay selection and transmit power allocation to selected relays in non-regenerative Relay Assisted Cognitive Radio Networks (RCRNs). The objective of our proposed scheme is to maximize the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) at the secondary destination while keeping the interference offered to the primary user below a ...

SNR Maximization for Linear Multi-antenna Relay Communications

We consider a linear relaying communication system using multiple antennas at a source, relay, and destination. We maximize the end-to-end Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR) to find the relay transformation (RT) and the source transmit covariance (STC) matrices. For any given STC matrix and to maximize the SNR, we prove that the relay has to assign all its power in the direction of the dominant eigenm...

Interference Alignment at Intermediate SNR with Perfect or Noisy CSI

Interference alignment is a new technique combining transmitter precoding and receiver interference suppression to achieve the optimal multiplexing gain in interference networks by exploiting knowledge of channel state information of all transmission links. So far closed form solutions for the transmit filters have only been found in certain cases. Also the feasibility of interference alignment...
