Skew-slash distribution and its application in topics regression

Authors

Abstract:

In many issues of statistical modeling, the common assumption is that observations are normally distributed. In many real data applications, however, the true distribution is deviated from the normal. Thus, the main concern of most recent studies on analyzing data is to construct and the use of alternative distributions. In this regard, new classes of distributions such as slash and skew-slash family of distributions have been introduced .This has been the main concern of many researcher’s investigations in recent decades. Slash distribution, as a heavy tailed symmetric distribution, is known in robust studies. But since , in empirical examples, there are many situations where symmetric distributions are not suitable for fitting the data study of skew distributions has become of particular importance. In this paper we introduce skew-slash distribution and study their properties. Finally, some applications to several real data sets are illustrated in order to show the importance of the distribution in regression models.

The multivariate skew-slash distribution

The slash distribution is often used as a challenging distribution for a statistical procedure. In this article, we define a skewed version of the slash distribution in the multivariate setting and derive several of its properties. The multivariate skew-slash distribution is shown to be easy to simulate from and can therefore be used in simulation studies. We provide various examples for illust...

The multivariate slash and skew-slash student t distributions

In this article, we introduce the multivariate slash and skew-slash t distributions which provide alternative choices in simulating and fitting skewed and heavy tailed data. We study their relationships with other distributions and give the densities, stochastic representations, moments, marginal distributions, distributions of linear combinations and characteristic functions of the random vect...

The Family of Scale-Mixture of Skew-Normal Distributions and Its Application in Bayesian Nonlinear Regression Models

In previous studies on fitting non-linear regression models with the symmetric structure the normality is usually assumed in the analysis of data. This choice may be inappropriate when the distribution of residual terms is asymmetric. Recently, the family of scale-mixture of skew-normal distributions is the main concern of many researchers. This family includes several skewed and heavy-tailed d...

A Family of Skew-Slash Distributions and Estimation of its Parameters via an EM Algorithm

Abstract. In this paper, a family of skew-slash distributions is defined and investigated. We define the new family by the scale mixture of a skew-elliptically distributed random variable with the power of a uniform random variable. This family of distributions contains slash-elliptical and skew-slash distributions. We obtain the moments and some distributional properties of the new family of d...

Logic regression and its application in predicting diseases

Regression is one of the most important statistical tools in data analysis and study of the relationship between predictive variables and the response variable. in most issues, regression models and decision tress only can show the main effects of predictor variables on the response and considering interactions between variables does not exceed of two way and ultimately three-way, due to co...

construction and validation of translation metacognitive strategy questionnaire and its application to translation quality

like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...
