Serum leptin, plasma glucose and lactate changes following aerobic exhaustive incremental exercise in trained men 18-26 years old

Abstract:

Aims: The aim of this study examined the acute effects of exhaustive incremental exercise on serum leptin, glucose and lactate in one session in trained men 18-26 years old. Materials and Methods: Thirty students who had 18-26 years old, body fat between 15-25 percent and VO2max between 35-45 ml/kg/min, simple randomly selected through 200 physical education students and they were divided into two equal groups (training and the control group each consists of 15 subjects). Exercise test included Astrand test on treadmill that performed exhaustive incremental exercise. Blood samples have been collected from two groups in pre and posttest and 9 hours after exhaustive incremental exercise. The statistical analyses used are the Independent T-test, one way Repeated Measures ANOVA test and Bonferroni post hoc test through SPSS version 20. Findings: Results showed that serum leptin did not change between three measurement sets in training group in comparison to control group (P>0.05). Plasma glucose significantly had changed between pre and posttest and pretest and 9 hours later (P<0.001). Plasma lactate significantly changed in posttest in comparison to pretest and in 9 hours later to post test (P<0.001). Conclusion: Therefore can says that exhaustive incremental exercise on plasma leptin had not any effects until 9 hours after exercise. Also, this type of exercise caused the plasma lactate and glucose levels in healthy trained subjects to increase temporarily immediately after exercise and return to the natural state after 9 hours.
