Semi-Blind Channel Estimation based on subspace modeling for Multi-user Massive MIMO system
Authors
Abstract:
Channel estimation is an essential task to fully exploit the advantages of the massive MIMO systems. In this paper, we propose a semi-blind downlink channel estimation method for massive MIMO system. We suggest a new modeling for the channel matrix subspace. Based on the low-rankness property, we have prposed an algorithm to estimate the channel matrix subspace. In the next step, using optimized pilots, we estimate the unknown parameters of the model and obtain more precise approximation of the channel matrix. The simulation results confirm the superiority of the suggested method over its counterparts in various scenarios.

Blind Estimation of Sparse Multi-User Massive MIMO Channels
We provide a maximum likelihood formulation for the blind estimation of massive mmWave MIMO channels while taking into account their underlying sparse structure. The main advantage of this approach is the fact that the overhead due to pilot sequences can be reduced dramatically especially when operating at low SNR per antenna. Thereby, the sparsity in the angular domain is exploited as a key pr...

Subspace system identification for training-based MIMO channel estimation
The application of state-space-based subspace system identification methods to training-based estimation for quasi-static multiinput–multi-output (MIMO) frequency-selective channels is explored with the motivation for better model approximation performance. A modification of the traditional subspace methods is derived to suit the non-contiguous nature of training data in mobile communication sy...
full textSemi-Blind Channel Estimation for Frequency-Selective MIMO Systems
The task of channel estimation in a frequencyselective multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system presents a real challenge for conventional training-based solutions, since the huge number of channel coefficients demand a huge number of training symbols, which will significantly reduce the system bandwidth-efficiency. As a possible countermeasure, we propose a semi-blind channel estimation algorith...
full textSubspace-based blind and semi-blind channel estimation for OFDM systems
This paper proposes a new blind channel estimation method for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The algorithm makes use of the redundancy introduced by the cyclic prefix to identify the channel based on a subspace approach. Thus, the proposed method does not require any modification of the transmitter and applies to most existing OFDM systems. Semi-blind procedures taki...

In this paper, a blind receiving system for Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) channel estimation of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system based on Independent Component Analysis (ICA) is proposed. The proposed receiving system exploits the statistical independence of the received signals in order to blind wireless channel estimation processes. The MIMO channel matrix is estimated by g...
