Role of Integrative Self-knowledge, Experiential Avoidance and Self-Compassion in Test Anxiety of female Students

Abstract:

Introduction: Test anxiety is one of the Psychological-educational problems that has a higher prevalence in female students. Psychological factors can play a role in explaining the test anxiety. The aim of current research was to investigate the Role of Integrative Self-knowledge, Experiential Avoidance and Self-Compassion in Test Anxiety of female Students. Methods: This research method was correlation. 171 female Students of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz were selected through Voluntary sampling method and responded to Test Anxiety, Integrative Self-knowledge, Experiential Avoidance and Self-Compassion Questionnaires. The gathered data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression. Results: The findings showed that there is a negative correlation between Integrative Self-knowledge and Self-Compassion with Test Anxiety (P>0.01). There is a positive correlation between Experiential Avoidance with Test Anxiety (P < 0.01). Also Among the predictor variables, Integrative Self-knowledge and Experiential Avoidance had the predictive power for test anxiety in female students (P<0.01). Conclusions: The findings of this study indicate the importance of psychological factors in explaining the test anxiety. Therefore, paying attention to these factors, especially Integrative Self-knowledge and Experiential Avoidance play an important role in reducing the test anxiety of female students.
