Review: Use of Highly unsaturated fatty acid (HUFA) in Ornamental Fish Feeds
Authors
Abstract:
Ornamental fish production, like all other segments of aquaculture, relies heavily on the successful spawning, hatching, and survival of larvae. Little is known about the nutrient requirements of most ornamental fish species. In many cultivars of fishes, such as Ornamental fish, especially in those new Ornamental fish species introduced to the aquaculture industry, the rate of fecundity is an important factor in the mass production of young fish and its final selection. Normally, improving the quality of feed used by breeders not only improves the quality of eggs and sperm, but also increases egg production. Gonadal development and fecundity are influenced by some of the nutrients present in the diet and are well documented in frequent spawning of broodstocks and short-term vitellogenic periods. The combination of lipids and fatty acids is one of the main determinants of the reproductive success of reproductive of Ornamental fish and the survival of the offspring. The presence of fats in the diet as a source of energy and essential fatty acids, sterols and phospholipids are considered as carriers of fat-soluble vitamins and are of considerable importance.

In this study, the combined effect of different levels of dietary n-3 HUFAs with α-Tocopherol on changes in the structure of intestine and pyloric caeca and fatty acids profile of Caspian salmon, Salmotrutta caspius, fry (initial weight of 600 ± 25 mg for 10 weeks) were investigated. Six experimental diets containing three different dietary levels of n-3 HUFAs (Low: 1 + 0.5, DHA+ EPA, Med...

full textA review of the role and importance of essential fatty acids in the feeding of ornamental fish
Ornamental fish farming, like other aquaculture productions, it depends on the quality and quantity of egg production, hatching, fecundity and survival of the larvae. In general, every step of aquaculture, followed by nutritional goals. Most of these studies are in the stages of larval growth. Because the highest costs are imposed on aquaculture and the most critical biological period of orname...
full textUnsaturated Fatty Acid Biosynthesis in Tetrahymena
The ciliate Tetrahymena pyriformis synthesizes a wide variety of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Variations in growth temperature or the addition of sterols such as cholesterol or ergosterol alter the proportions of a number of unsaturated fatty acids. The pattern of substitution is complex when examined on the basis of individual fatty acids. A straightforward explanation is possible, h...
