Abstract:

HUMAN MONOCYTES AND MACROPHAGES Interaction with Antigen and Lymphocytes
PPD-sensitized monocytes and macrophages from tuberculin-positive subjects are both capable of inducing blastogenic transformation of autologous lymphocytes . Incorporation of thymidine-3H and morphological transformation were always greater in lymphocyte cultures containing macrophages than in those containing monocytes . More lymphocytes entered the first detectable S phase in cultures contai...
full textInterleukin-7 induces recruitment of monocytes/macrophages to endothelium.
AIMS Interleukin-7 (IL-7) is a master regulator of T-cell development and homoeostasis. Increased IL-7 levels are associated with inflammatory diseases. The aims of this study were to determine whether IL-7 is a biomarker for inflammatory conditions or an active participant in atherogenesis. METHODS AND RESULTS Advanced atherosclerotic lesions in Apoe(-/-) mice were regressed by long-term cho...
full textInterleukin 10(IL-10) inhibits cytokine synthesis by human monocytes: an autoregulatory role of IL-10 produced by monocytes
In the present study we demonstrate that human monocytes activated by lipopolysaccharides (LPS) were able to produce high levels of interleukin 10 (IL-10), previously designated cytokine synthesis inhibitory factor (CSIF), in a dose dependent fashion. IL-10 was detectable 7 h after activation of the monocytes and maximal levels of IL-10 production were observed after 24-48 h. These kinetics ind...
full textInterferon gamma inhibits interleukin 10 production by monocytes
Interleukin 10 (IL-10) was first described for its ability to inhibit interferon gamma (IFN-gamma) production. Herein, we studied the balance between IFN-gamma and IL-10 production by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in response to Staphylococcus aureus Cowan (SAC) or lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Monocyte depletion reduced IL-10 production by 90% and resulted in an increased IFN-gam...
full textExpression of interleukin-10 in intestinal lymphocytes detected by an interleukin-10 reporter knockin tiger mouse.
To identify interleukin-10 (IL-10)-producing cells in vivo, we generated a knockin mouse where an internal ribosome entry site (IRES) green fluorescence protein (GFP) element was inserted immediately before the polyadenylation site of the IL-10 gene. GFP fluorescence in cells from these mice was found to correlate positively with IL-10 protein expression. With this model, we found that after mu...
full textNormal values of neutrophils/lymphocytes ratio, lymphocytes/monocytes ratio and platelets/lymphocytes ratio among Iranian population: Results of Tabari cohort
Background: Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR) and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have a prognostic value in several types of diseases such as cancers and they vary in different races. So, we aimed to evaluate the normal range of these markers among healthy people to determine the normal value in Iranian population. Methods: In the present study, cross-sectiona...
