Reproductive effects of dietary soy phytoestrogens, genistein and equol on farmed female beluga, Huso huso
Authors
Abstract:
In this study, 54 five-year-old farmed female beluga at stage II of sexual maturation were treated with 0 (control), 0.2, 0.4, 0.8 and 1.6 g of dietary soy equol (EQ) and genistein (GE) per each kilogram (kg) of diet during a year. Blood samples were collected and ovarian biopsy was performed quarterly. Results showed that 64.4% of the Huso huso sexually matured at EQ 0.4 g/kg and reached stage IV of sexual maturation. Oocytes diameters increased significantly at all concentrations of EQ and 0.2, 0.4 and 0.8 concentrations of GE and reached a maximum (3 ± 0.2 mm) at 0.4 g/kg EQ concentration at the end of experiment (P

Semen obtained from four Beluga males (Huso huso) was cryopreserved using extender; Tris-sucroseKCl (30mM Tris, 23.4mM sucrose, 0.25mM KCl, PH 8.0) supplemented with MeOH at concentration of 5%, 10% and 20%. Semen was diluted, respectively, with ratios of 1:0.5, 1:1 and 1:2 with extender and frozen in liquid nitrogen vapor.Frozen sperms after 30 and 60 days were excluded from freezing. Experime...
full textEffects of dietary isoflavone-genistein on hematological and immunological parameters in pre - brood stock beluga, Huso huso
This study was carried out with the aim of detecting the dietary effects of isoflavone-genistein on hematological and immunological parameters in beluga, Huso huso in a 12-week feeding period. Five isonitrogenous (45% crude protein) and isoenergetic (19.5 MJ kg -1) diets were formulated to contain four graded levels of isoflavone-genistein, namely 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8 and 1.6 g kg-1 diet. Fish (ini...

full textThe effect of dietary selenium on growth performance, Carcass Composition, and blood profile of farmed juvenile beluga (Huso huso)
This study was designed to compare the effects of different levels of mineral selenium in diet on growth performance, some blood indices and juvenile beluga carcass composition (Huso huso) within 10 weeks. For this purpose, a number of 315 fry with an average weight of 15.66 ± 0.77 grams were stocked in the twenty-one 500-liter fiberglass tanks (15 per each). Seven diets containing different le...
