Z, Bazgir E, Naghavi A (2020) Report of five species of plant parasitic nematodes associated with hawthorn forest trees in western Iran. Plant Pathology Science 9(1):16-30. DOI: 10.2982/PPS.9.1.16 Introduction: The Hoplolaimidae family is one of the largest and economically most important families of the order/ infraorder Tylenchida / Tylenchomorpha. The members of this family spread all over the world and can be found under different climatic conditions. Some species in this family are serious plant parasites and significantly reduce crop yields. Materials and Methods: In the forests of Khorramabad city in western Iran 70 samples were collected from the soil around the roots of hawthorn trees in the period of 2017-2019. After recording the properties of each sample, they were transferred to a laboratory and cooled at 4 °C. The nematodes were extracted from the soil using the tray method, then fixed and transferred to pure glycerin, and permanent slides were made. The morphological and morphometric properties of the nematodes were examined using a light microscope equipped with a Dino Capture camera. The nematode species were identified using scientific identification keys. Results: Five species of plant parasitic nematodes belonging to two genera of Hoplolaimidae were identified in this study, including Rotylenchus goodeyi, Helicotylenchus canadensis, H. digonicus, H. vulgaris and H. tunisiensis. Conclusion: R. goodeyi is reporting as a new record for the nematode fauna of Iran. Morphometrical and morphological characteristics of these nemadodes are described here.

Species of Colletotrichum associated with citrus trees in Iran
Colletotrichum species are associated with citrus plants as pathogens, saprobes and endophytes. According to the most recent multigene phylogenetic analysis, a lot of changes were happened in the taxonomy and species delimitation in the genus Colletotrichum. In this investigation, 292 Colletotrichum isolates were obtained from leaves, fruits and stems of Citrus species at Golestan, Mazandaran, ...
full textAnhydrobiosis in five species of plant associated nematodes.
Five species of nematodes - Hemicriconemoides pseudobrachyurum, Hemicycliophora conida, Macroposthonia ornata, Aphelenchoides ritzemabosi, and Psilenchus hilarulus -were desiccated to study their capacity to survive anhydrobiotically. Results indicate that the ability of the sheath to shrink quickly and its relatively loose attachment with the nematode body allow H. conida to survive longer tha...
full textPlant parasitic nematodes associated with leatherleaf fern.
Seven species of plant parasitic nematodes were found to be associated with leatherleaf fern (Rumohra adiantiformis) in central Florida. Of these, Pratylenchus penetrans, Tylenchorhynchus claytoni, and Criconemoides curvatum were commonly encountered. Nematode communities generally included two or three species of plant parasitic nematodes, with greatest diversity in nematode species occurring ...

Nematode were determined in 189 soil and root samples collected from 18 olive nurseries in Golestan province (northern Iran), between 2004 and 2008. which contain eight species belonging to eight grnera The important nematodes detected, in order of decreasing frequency of infestation (percentage of samples), were Aphelenchus avenae, Meloidogyne javanica, Irantylenchus sp., Pratylenchus thornei,...
full textEffect of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes Associated with Tea in Nigeria
Several species of plant parasitic nematodes have been encountered in soils of different tea-growing areas of the world. Roots and soil were sampled for the presence of plant-parasitic nematodes from tea plantations in Kusuku, the only major tea growing location in Nigeria. Six genera of plant-parasitic nematodes were recovered from the rhizosphere soil. Meloidogyne spp. Pratylenchus coffeae an...
