Remarks on Modern Track Geometry Maintenance

author

Abstract:

A short survey on modern track maintenance methods is given, concentrating on the developments in recent years. The ongoing refinement of the machinery should be shown as the influence of IT-solutions. On top the economic view to the track infrastructure is briefly demonstrated. Further developments in track hardware solutions must respect the obtained high level of track work mechanization. However, with respect to presentation time some other ongoing developments unfortunately are not discussed. Prominent amongst those are the advent of high grade rail steels like heat-treated perlitic steels, the experiments with bainitic steels and the introduction of hydraulically driven turnouts with special high-speed-prone rail geometry or the latest machine sets for general subgrade rehabilitation.

Influences of Railway Track Geometry Parameters on Ground-Borne Vibration

One of the most important challenges in the development of urban railways network is the effects of railway vibrations on human and adjacent structures. Although various investigations into the sources of railway vibrations have been conducted, very few research works have been reported on the influences of track geometry parameters on the level of vibrations. This is addressed in this resea...

Remarks on the Geometry of Moduli Spaces

By using Yau’s Schwarz lemma and the Quillen determinant line bundles, several results about fibered algebraic surfaces and the moduli spaces of curves are improved and reproved.

Remarks on Contact and Jacobi Geometry

We present an approach to Jacobi and contact geometry that makes many facts, presented in the literature in an overcomplicated way, much more natural and clear. The key concepts are Kirillov manifolds and linear Kirillov structures, i.e., homogeneous Poisson manifolds and, respectively, homogeneous linear Poisson manifolds. The difference with the existing literature is that the homogeneity of ...

modern macroeconomics is on the Wrong track

E VERYONE is painfully aware that we are in the middle of a major global economic and financial crisis. During a visit to the London School of Economics late last year, Queen Elizabeth ll asked why no economists had forecast the crisis. But indeed some had sounded warnings. A more interesting question is why no one, including policymakers, was inclined to listen. Perhaps the most important reas...
