Reference values of M-mode echocardiographic parameters and indices in conscious Labrador Retriever dogs
Authors
Abstract:
Breed-wise standard echocardiographic values in dogs have been reported as there is variation in body and chest conformation which limits the application of data of one breed for other breed. Labrador Retrievers being originated from hunting dogs, might have different echocardiographic values from standard normal range of other dog breeds. So, the present study was aimed to determine the M-mode echocardiographic reference ranges in Labrador Retriever dogs and to evaluate the effect of body weight and gender onthese parameters. The data obtained were also compared with that of the other dog breeds. Conscious clinically healthy Labrador Retriever dogs (n=24) of both sexes were made the subject of the study. All the measurements were made from a right parasternal long axis left ventricular outflow tract view and the parameters measured were: left ventricular dimensions, left ventricular function, left ventricular volumes, left atrial and aortic root diameter and mitral valve parameters. Data obtained were also compared with thatavailable for other dog breeds. Significant correlation (P0.5); moderate for LVPWd, LVPWs, EPSS, EF Slope and SV (r=0.3 to 0.5); weak for EDV and ESV (r

full textM-mode echocardiographic reference values in Pantja goats
AIM The aim of this study was to establish M-mode echocardiographic reference values in Pantja goats and to study the effect of gender and body weight (BW) on these parameters. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 18, clinically healthy, adult Pantja goats of either sex, aged 2-4 years and weighing 10-44 kg were included in the study. Echocardiographic examination was performed in the standing un...
full textM-mode Left Ventricular Echocardiographic Indices of Trypanosoma Brucei Infected Dogs
This study is aimed at understanding the structural and functional changes that could occur in the left ventricle of dogs acutely infected with Trypanosoma brucei. Twenty clinically healthy adult dogs of both sexes with an average weight of 8.4 kg were used for the study. They were divided into infected and uninfected groups of fifteen and five dogs, respectively. Each dog was intra-peritoneall...
full textBasic values of M-mode echocardiographic parameters of the left ventricle in outbreed Wistar rats
This paper describes the partial results of an echocardiographic study in sixty outbreed Wistar rats. Animals of parity sex ratio were chosen for the experiment. The animals were grown up during the observation period (the minimum weight was 220 g; the maximum weight was 909 g) and were then sequentially anaesthetised (2–2.5% of isoflurane, 3 l/min O2). The second, fourth and fifth examinations...
full textEchocardiographic indices in normal German shepherd dogs
Sixty clinically normal German shepherd dogs, 31 males and 29 females, ranging in age from 1 and 5 years and with a body weight ranging from 22 to 37.2 kg, were examined by the two-dimensional mode, M-mode, and Doppler echocardiography. In Doppler mode, the mitral valve flows were obtained, where the aim was to determine the velocity peaks and ratios of the E and A waves and the mitral E wave d...
