Rcd Rules and Power Systems Observability

Authors

Abstract:

Power system state estimation is a process to find the bus voltage magnitudes and phase angles at every bus based on a given measurement set. The state estimation convergency is related to the sufficiency of the measurement set. Observability analysis actually tests this kind of problem and guarantees the state estimation accuracy. A new and useful algorithm is proposed and applied in this paper for power system observability. Through the use of this practical method, one can test the observability of power systems for a specific measurement set. In this new method, which we call Row-Column Diagonal (RCD) method, the electric power network is transformed to a useful graphical network named pseudo-network and then observability study is applied. This new method is implemented on some example networks which are already tested.

Addressing Nonlinear Observability Issues in Power Systems

In recent years the power system industry has witnessed an increase of automation techniques in system operation. This development is especially evident with smaller systems, such as naval shipboard power systems. Traditionally, a nonlinear algebraic model of the power system is used to determine the system observability. In particular, the sensitivity of the system measurements (real and react...

ON CONTROLLABILITY AND OBSERVABILITY OF FUZZY CONTROL SYSTEMS

In order to more effectively cope with the real world problems of vagueness, imprecise and subjectivity, fuzzy event systems were proposed recently. In this paper, we investigate the controllability and the observability property of two systems that one of them has fuzzy variables and the other one has fuzzy coefficients and fuzzy variables (fully fuzzy system). Also, sufficient conditions for ...

Observability of power systems with optimal PMU placement

Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) are measuring devices that, when placed in electrical networks, observe their state by providing information on the currents in their branches (transmission lines) and voltages in their buses. Compared to other devices, PMUs have the capability of observing other nodes besides the ones they are placed on. Due to a set of observability rules, depending on the plac...

Observability and Forward-Backward Observability of Discrete-Time Nonlinear Systems

In this paper, we study the observability properties of nonlinear discrete time systems. Two types of contributions are given. First, we present observability criteria in terms of appropriate codistributions. For particular, but significant, classes of systems we provide criteria that require only a finite number of computations. Then, we consider invertible systems (which includes discrete-tim...

Power allocation rules under fuzzy behavior and multicriteria situations

In this paper, we adopt supreme-utilities among fuzzy level (decision) vectors to propose a power allocation rule, its efficient extension and normalization in the framework of multicriteria fuzzy transferable-utility (TU) games. We also provide several axiomatic results to present the rationality for these rules. Based on different viewpoints, we introduce different formulations and dynamic re...
