Abstract:

Introduction: Dual-modality contrast agents, such as radiolabeled nanoparticles, are promising candidates for a number of diagnostic applications, namely SPECT imaging with MR imaging. So the aim of study was evaluating potential of Chitosan-Coated Magnetic Nanoparticles(SPION) labeled with 99mTc as new Dual-modality probes for liver Imaging. Materials and Methods: In this study chitosan particles were coated on SPION and radiolabeled with 99mTc after Purification. The quality control tests including determining particles size, labeling efficiency, stability and Biodistribution study in the mice were performed. Finally MRI and nuclear medicine imaging study in Balb/c mice in 1 and 4 hour after injection of complex were performed. Results: Results showed that the final complex have spherical shape and with average size 255±30nm. The labeling efficiency and stability of complex with 99mTc were 89±6%, 93±6% respectively. Biodistribution study, MRI and nuclear medicine imaging showed high accumulation of Complex in liver. Conclusion: The results showed that the 99mTc-Chitosan coated SPION may be considered as promising Dual-modality probes for liver Imaging.

The new direction of nuclear medicine

The role of the nuclear medicine has changed, from the early days when it was the only alternative to x-rays, to the present, when nuclear images are interpreted in light of specific metabolic processes, not anatomy. The development of specific receptor targeting radiopharmaceuticals, markers of viability using PETor SPECT, analogues of neurotransmitters etc., have placed the nuclear medi...

New techniques in nuclear medicine for tumor detection [Persian]

Widespread studies on tumor diagnosis has led to the development of techniques with greater sensitivity and improved specificity for detection of occult and small subclinical tumors. Tumor imaging by radiolabeling of tumor-specific antibodies (Immunoscintigraphy) or tissue specific biochemical agents (Receptor imaging) and especially physiologic imaging with positron emitters (PET), have ...

Radiolabeling of Cramoll 1,4: Evaluation of the Biodistribution

The cramoll 1,4 is a well-studied lectin. However, few studies about its biodistribution have been done before. In this study, we radiolabeled the cramol 1,4 with Tc-99m and analyzed the biodistribution. The results showed that the cramol has an abnormal uptake by the bowel with reflections on its clearance mechanism.

Carbon-11 radiolabeling of iron-oxide nanoparticles for dual-modality PET/MR imaging.

Dual-modality imaging, using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) simultaneously, is a powerful tool to gain valuable information correlating structure with function in biomedicine. The advantage of this dual approach is that the strengths of one modality can balance the weaknesses of the other. However, success of this technique requires developing imaging pr...

History and Perspectives of Nuclear Medicine in Myanmar

Nuclear Medicine was established in Myanmar in 1963 by Dr Soe Myint and International Atomic Energy expert Dr R. Hochel at Yangon General Hospital. Nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic services started with Probe Scintillation Detector Systems and rectilinear scanner. In the early stage, many Nuclear Medicine specialists from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) spent some time ...
