Abstract:

SUMMARY Antenatal ultrasonography has an important rule in diagnosis of congenital malformation. At present identification of most major congenital abnormality during pregnancy depends on . sensitivity and resolution of the instrument, skilful and experienced sonologist and gestational age. Cranial and spinal defects and other malformations can be ferquently diagnosed with ultrasound. Major anomalies of Nervous and urogenital system include 50% Malformation perinataly and their incidence will increase in presence of musculoskeletal and cardiac anomaly. This is a report of a rare case with rachischisis and Anencephaly which has been diagnosed with ultrasonography Antenataly.

Diagnostic anténatal d’un rachischisis

Anencephaly.

Anencephaly is an open neural tube [5] defect, meaning that part of the neural tube [5] does not properly close or that it has reopened during early embryogenesis [6]. Endocrine studies in anencephaly.

Endocrine function has been investigated in four anencephalic neonates to determine the influence of absence of cortical and hypothalamic tissue and of hypoplasia of the pituitary. Intravenous glucose administration resulted in higher peak values for blood sugar and more rapid glucose disposal rates than reported in normals. Intravenous insulin tolerance tests on two of the infants failed to ev...

Anencephaly and spina bifida (ASB) and retroversion.

Despite the wealth of epidemiological material of the last decade, birth defects are still the chief cause of perinatal mortality and no significant breakthrough in understanding or reduction has yet been seen. Many proposed aetiological factors are still being evaluated. This report suggests a possible, simple, remediable factor in the aetiology of defects of the central nervous system.

The male fetus was born to a 24-year-old, gravida 2, and para 0, who had medical abortion at 15 weeks of gestation due to anencephaly with meningoencephalocele revealed by ultrasound examination. The fetus was born with 2 anencephalic heads with a bifurcation of the vertebral column and pres...

Prenatal Diagnosis of Anencephaly

Human serum normally contains only the conjugated bile salts, glycocholate, glycochenodeoxycholate, taurocholate and taurochenodeoxycholate (Sandberg et al., 1965 ; Panveliwalla et al., 1970), with a total concentration below 5pmol/l. In serum from jaundiced patients the total bile salt concentration may rise to values exceeding 250pmol/l (Panveliwalla et al., 1970). The conjugated chenodeoxych...
