Abstract:
Purification of extra-cellular cellulolytic enzymes from C e l l u l o mssp. strain 0, isolated from forest soil in the north of Iran , was studied by using gel filtration and ion-exchange chromatography. Two endo-glucanases (Endo-I & Endo-II) and one exo-glucanase (Exo-I) were purified to hornogenity . The purified enzymes had molecular weights of about 39.000,70.000 and 90.000 daltons for Endo-I, Endo-II and Exo-I, respectively. Heavy metal ions, like Fe and CU inactivated the enzymes by about 80%, while Zn and CO had no effect on the enzyme activities

full textPRODUCTION, RELEASE AND THERMAL CHARACTERIZATION OF CELLULOLYTIC ENZYME FROM CELLULOMONAS sp. STRAIN "0"
Cellulase production by a Cellulomonas sp., isolated in 1985 from forest humus soil along the border of the Caspian Sea in Iran, was investigated. This strain secreted endo-and exo-cellulases in the culture medium, but some of the enzymes produced remained cell membrane bound. Cell bound enzymes were released by various treatments. The highest amount of endo-glucanase (up to 95%) and exo-gl...
full textAdsorption characteristics of cellulolytic enzymes from the anaerobic fungus Piromyces sp. strain E2 on microcrystalline cellulose.
Characteristics of the cellulolytic system of the anaerobic fungus Piromyces sp. strain E2 with respect to adsorption onto microcrystalline cellulose were examined. Cellulolytic enzymes were separated by gel filtration chromatography into a high-molecular-mass complex with an apparent mass of approximately 1,200 to 1,400 kDa and proteins of lower molecular weights. Adsorption of cellulolytic en...

For the conversion of plant biomass into various bioproducts, a significant bottleneck is enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocelluloses to soluble sugars. These sugars are then metabolized through various natural or engineered pathways toward products of interest. The success of projected biorefinery processes depend to a large extent on the economics of hydrolytic enzyme production. Presently, mesop...
full textComplete genome sequence of Clostridium sp. strain BNL1100, a cellulolytic mesophile isolated from corn stover.
We present the full genome sequence of Clostridium sp. strain BNL1100, a Gram-positive, endospore-forming, lignocellulolytic bacterium isolated from a corn stover enrichment culture. The 4,613,747-bp genome of strain BNL1100 contains 4,025 putative protein-coding genes, of which 103 are glycoside hydrolases, the highest detected number in cluster III clostridia.
full textDraft Genome Sequence of Achromobacter sp. Strain AR476-2, Isolated from a Cellulolytic Consortium
Achromobacter sp. AR476-2 is a noncellulolytic strain previously isolated from a cellulolytic consortium selected from samples of insect gut. Its genome sequence could contribute to the unraveling of the complex interaction of microorganisms and enzymes involved in the biodegradation of lignocellulosic biomass in nature.
