Proposing a Model for Patient Admission and NFC Mobile Payment by Biometric Identification and Smart Health Card
Authors
Abstract:
Abstract Following the advances in mobile communication and information technology, smart phones have been used in a wide variety of commercial, social, entertainment, file sharing and health transactions and applications. The current procedures in healthcare environment for patient registration, appointment scheduling and payment are time consuming and somehow tiresome. Traditionally, patients were supposed to fill out registration forms, wait for being called, and finally stand in long lines for payment procedures. In some places, appointment could be done online via web but still the patient has to walk in with appointment card and in our case, provide the insurance booklet to the front desk personnel to pay for services and receive discounts for insurance. Therefore, the present study intended to propose a model using Near Field Communication-enabled mobile application for a medical clinic which currently offers online and call services for making an appointment, though patient waiting time is still too much in the current process of payment for services.

full textNFC mobile credit card: The next frontier of mobile payment?
With the advancement of mobile devices and the emergence of Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, payment today is a mere wave-of-the-phone. However, the adoption of mobile credit card (MCC) is still not widespread despite its potential as documented. Premised on this, the study extends the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with four additional constructs. The moderating effect of gender w...

full textExtending EMV Payment Smart Cards with Biometric On-Card Verification
Nowadays, many bank cards are smart cards (i.e. integrated-circuit cards) based on the EMV specifications for payment systems. This paper specifies how biometric on-card verification can be integrated into EMV debit and credit cards in a backwards-compatible way. The biometric verification does not change the EMV transaction flow outside the cardholder-verification step. The proposed payment sy...
full textMobile Smart Card Reader Using NFC-Enabled Smartphones
Due to the increasing use of electronic systems in all fields of everyday life, users are now having to deal with electronic identification and authentication practically every day. Password based authentication systems are neither secure nor particularly convenient for users. Here, we are presenting the idea of using an NFC-enabled mobile phone as a chip card reader for contactless smart cards...
