Abstract:

Background and Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic is a phenomenon that has infected and killed many people worldwide. Underlying diseases such as diabetes mellitus, heart failure, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) can affect the severity of COVID-19 and aggravate patients' condition. This study aimed to predict the severity of the COVID-19 disease in CKD patients by combining feature selection and classification methods. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted between March 2021 and September 2021 in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. The data set includes 83 traits of 72 kidney transplant patients, 231 kidney failure patients, and 105 dialysis patients. The data set has 77 input attributes, including age, sex, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, chronic lung disease, and kidney transplant. In the proposed method, the combination of ant colony algorithm and the CHAID method has been used. Results: The combination of the ant colony algorithm and CHAID method leads to better performance than CHAID alone. A total of 22 rules were extracted, of which 6 rules with a confidence of more than 60% were introduced as selected rules. The most reliable rule states that if a person has CKD stage 5, is not undergoing dialysis (5ND), and is short of breath, in 81% of cases the type of COVID-19 disease will be severe. Conclusion: In this study the severity of COVID-19 disease in kidney patients was measured using variables including age, diabetes mellitus, blood pressure, CKD stage, etc. The results showed that high levels of kidney disease can lead to severe COVID-19.

New Ant Colony Algorithm Method based on Mutation for FPGA Placement Problem

Many real world problems can be modelled as an optimization problem. Evolutionary algorithms are used to solve these problems. Ant colony algorithm is a class of evolutionary algorithms that have been inspired of some specific ants looking for food in the nature. These ants leave trail pheromone on the ground to mark good ways that can be followed by other members of the group. Ant colony optim...

Warehouse Layout Method Based on Ant Colony and Backtracking Algorithm

Warehouse is one of the important aspects of a company. Therefore, it is necessary to improve Warehouse Management System (WMS) to have a simple function that can determine the layout of the storage goods. In this paper we propose an improved warehouse layout method based on ant colony algorithm and backtracking algorithm. The method works on two steps. First, it generates a solutions parameter...

The Relationship between Work Ability and Severity of Disease in Patients Recovering from Covid-19

Introduction. The work ability index based on a person 's health statuse predicts the ability to continue working now and in near feature.  proper assessment of work ability in covid 19 recoveries is important for both patients and employers and its enhancement leads to the efficiency of human resourses in industries and organizations. The working staff’s efficiency is a matter of their work ab...

Ant Colony Algorithm for the Single Loop Routing Problem

In this paper, a new algorithm for solving the single loop routing problem is presented. The purpose of the single loop routing problem(SLRP) is to find the shortest loop for an automated guided vehicle covering at least one edge of each department of a block layout. First it shown that this problem can be represented as a graph model. Then a meta-heuristic algorithm based on and colony system ...

An Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm for Network Vulnerability Analysis

Intruders often combine exploits against multiple vulnerabilities in order to break into the system. Each attack scenario is a sequence of exploits launched by an intruder that leads to an undesirable state such as access to a database, service disruption, etc. The collection of possible attack scenarios in a computer network can be represented by a directed graph, called network attack gra...
