Abstract:
شیوع بیماریهای قلب و عروق در بین مردم کشورهای صنعتی و در حال توسعه رو به افزایش است. پیام مدیر کل سازمان بهداشت جهانی در سال ۱۹۹۲ چنین عنوان می نماید که سالانه ۱۲ میلیون نفر در جهان در اثر بیماریهای قلبی از بین می روند و گروه کثیری نیز معلول می گردند. نگاهی به آمار سازمان بهداشت جهانی نشان می دهد که در سطح جهانی بیماریهای قلبی - عروقی، ۲۳٪ کل موارد مرگ و میر را به خود اختصاص می دهد که در مقایسه با سایر علل مرگ و میر از میزان بسیار قابل توجهی برخوردار است.
